actually, i think it is a reasonable thing to do. they have probably gotten some heckling from other people about it and wanted to clear it up before the squable of yippee-yucks got around to their label makers and started branding their squad as a bunch of cheaters.
i know that some people here think that it is a non issue, and maybe it is... but it seems to me that it is the exact opposite of the game play and environment that HTC is trying to create here. or at least that is the impression that i have gotten from their previous commentary on the subject.
i really wish that one of them would chime in on the matter and i am surprized that they have not.
cheating is the most base of offenses that i can think of in a universe like this and i truly feel that those who are saying "gee, he fessed up, let him off the hook" are being far to easy on the situation.
i think that he did it for attention and recognition. why else would he bother to spread the word across the land? and FOUR times!
my issue, specifically, is his signature, which basically offers contempt for the system which is held in direct contrast to the begging bowl of forgiveness being held out in the other hand. that and his suggestion that the amount of time spent cheating is relative. it is not.
it is a matter of honor to tell the truth. he did. that may set him on the right path but it doesnt erase the mistake.
it is dishonorable to make a joke out of it or to try to pretend that it had little bearing on the final result.
sorry folks. i know that i risk going too far on this matter, but it is something that i do not do and that i just can't stand.
perhaps he should have closed his account and reopened it with a score of zero if he was really all that serious about it.
instead he tries to suggest that it was only a short little thing.
i truly feel that it encourages others to follow this type of behavior by saying nothing on the matter.
