Using the Disconnect to prevent being killed
« Reply #30 on: November 14, 2006, 07:43:51 PM »
If someone disconnects, regardless of reason, they should appear to simply fly on the same course until data updates make him finally disappear. People get disconnected all the time for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the game may lock up from textures being too large for their hardware to handle. Eventually, they'll CTD or lose host connection, but they may appear to still be flying on the FE of others for a while.

This topic, and the emotionally-charged way it has been presented, serves no purpose other than to spead misinformation and unhealthy rumors.

Send your film in to HTC, ask THEM if it's cheating, afterall- THEY are the ONLY ones who can do ANYTHING about it if it is IN fact cheating.:D

Leaving the fact that the whole thread is ludicrous out of it....what exactly do you have on film? If you flew for 10 minutes you'd catch the guy. The control inputs add to much drag. Further I can not only land a clipped pony, I can even dog fight it a little bit (if I have flaps)......

So unless you actually are in pursuit on his close 6 how do you know he didnt ditch??? or even land....

IMO warps lead to discoes.  In the end its a connection issue, either way, so why should one be excluded?

Its cheating?  Its not......it doesn't exist

I discoed just as I was approaching a fight just last week.  Sucked for me, caused no else any harm.

I checked with the men of the square table and, while it is not cheating, it is a man-law that you don't do it. Hope this helps.

I believe this thread should be renamed "Using the Disconnect to deny the kill", since that is what the other player is doing.
1.  Can you prevent this?  No.

2.  Is it annoying?  Yes.

3.  Should you spend any more time on something you can never fix?  No.

The same thing can be said for someone who bails or crashes outside of the proxy kill zone.  It's gamey, but afterall....
