change in collision modeling???
« on: November 17, 2006, 02:49:04 PM »
I've had a number of collisions.....

Here is one where I take damage in tail....my text buffer showed the orange "you've collided" as well as the message that "Kristov has collided"...I can see no shot taken by him...it appears that he collided with rear of my plane and took us both out....I couldnt take image (can you capture single image from film??) so I posted the last minute or so....

Just hit the print screen button during film playback, and you can paste the screen shot as a new image in an image editing program.

If the film shows the collision , I do not understand what you think the problem is?

there in what i think is called the"clipboard" so all you have to do is open Paint click in the white area and hit cntrl+v  (the control key and the v key ) and it will say the image is too big .. then tell it to do it any way

You cant find them until you actually did paste them into an image editing program.

- Press "PrintScreen" when in your film viewer
- Close Film Viewer, open MS Paint
- Press Ctrl-V. You should now see your screenshot
- Now save that new picture to any folder of your choice
Steam: DrKalv

This is a still from the 109's view....if you watch the clip from his end he's actually looking back up into the sun for the guy shooting at him. No indication he fired at all.....but obviously could be a lag delay....but I can see no sprite...and theres a "puff" on the clip as we actually collide....

There's no way you should have gotten a "You have collided".
It's obvious in that screen shot that you were facing forward, therefore you did not "see" the collision. :D

Humble i looked at the film externally and fairly close to tail of your ac.

Your tail goes through his wing.

So you hit him and you took damage.

But obviously all he needed to do was send a potato my way:eek: ....but looking from his view he's looking away from me and all his other shots are clearly visable and audible....

His damage is spot on for the collision....

Thats exactly what it looks like to me....but AH is only supposed to access damage if I run into him....not if he runs into me....collison is on his "front end" and he hits the rear of my plane....

No  Humble if your AC touches another on your front end you take the damage.  And since I could see it in your film  you hit him also.

Nothing has changed.

Thats not correct, if you run into the other guy you take the damage. Here the 109 driver is looking behind him and plows into me. There is no damage via my "front end" I got a you collided message (for some reason it doesnt show on the clip??)....but according to my understanding of the current damage model for collisions I should NOT have registered a collision on my plane....hence my post looking for clarification. BTW I actually favor a model that does damage both planes as it appears iss the case here.

Then you don't understand.

If at anytime your AC touches another on your front end for any reason ... YOU have collided and will take damage.
Since your tail touches his  AC (on your film from your front end) your going to take damage.

What most likely happened is .
1 on his front end his nose hits followed by his wing.
he then takes damage.

2 less than a second later your tail hits his wing on your front end.
 That's when your tail pops.

So once again nothing has changed.
