USB vs PS/2 vs WinXP-HE
« on: November 08, 2001, 02:55:00 PM »
Greetings.

I use Ch-Pro Throttle, CH-Janes F16 Combat stick, CH-Pedals and CH-SpeedKeys program. (also have new CH-ProPedals and
CH-F16 Fighterstick still in the boxes).   All have NON-USB connectors.

Just bought a new faster HP computer for gaming only: P4-1.7GHz, 512MB RAM, G-force3-64MB, fast modem etc...
It shipped with Windows-XP Home Edition o/s and uses USB KEYBOARD.  Has 4 USB receptacles.

PROBLEM = I'm grounded !!

Even uninstalling the USB keyboard, then installing my old PS/2 keyboard plugged into the CH connector and that into the PC's extra
PS/2 keyboard receptacle, the only thing that works is the pitch, roll and rudder.  All 34 button and hat positions and the Pro-throttle
engine power slide action are dead.  Oddly, the throttle wheel on the stick works instead of the Pro-throttle.

Tried a USB-to-PS/2 connector adapter too. It fit but didn't work.

1) Is there a way to make these CH devices work under WinXP-HE with PS/2 to USB connector adapters ?
2) Do Ch's new USB counterpart devices work under WinXP-HE ?
3) Will 4 USB receptacles on the PC be enough to handle the new keyboard, 3 USB CH devices (and maybe a USB scanner) ?

Your advice is welcome.
Thanks,
