56th in B24s
« on: November 18, 2006, 12:05:47 AM »
Lead Element was at a 24k altitude with it's wingmen at different altitudes of 100ft.

Low Element was 500ft below Lead's altitude.

High Element was 500ft above Lead's altitude.

Valkyarie was leader of Lead element.  Keeler was leader of High element and I was leader of Low Element.  No purple hearts were given to low element after tonight :)  Friendly fire was very interesting.  Just ask betty. :)

Lots of vox talk was heard in the beginning due to air starts, formation changes and well, questions from, how to calibrate with old way to what is our target were asked and somehow, all questions were answered.  Valkyarie's idea of forming up in a historic way was unforgettable.
Valkyarie and to all for actually making it happen.

Fighter escorts were great.  We were busy all they way to target, so communicating with them was not smooth.  Others from the 56th stepped up to lend a hand with comms, Dano for doing that.   Betty for having handy info printed out.

I typed out as well as said over vox, "drop now"
All salvoed to 12 and delayed to 0.3.
I was able to give a 30sec and 10 second warning to my flight before we dropped.  Looks like our formation was good, seems our drop pattern turned out well.

Lead had middle
High had right side (southside)
Low had left side (northside)

First picture is before any of the Low Element's bombs hit the target.

This 2nd picture is after the Low Element's bombs hit.

Bombing pattern looked good. :)  We may have been too tight :)

Nomde....wish you could have been able to be with us.

Edit:  As you can see, we had some difficulty seeing the target.  Weird glitch with snow showing, but the transitions were showing as green grass.  Text was blurred out for National Security reasons.
Edit 2: Kermit, betty, dano and Zapkin were low element.  Hibbler, bustr and Keeler were high element.  Valkarie, shaunbn, platano and a few others were with Lead element.

Thanks to the 56th for accepting a bomber assignment in that frame, I know you guys are a jug squad and I want to thank you for your great work getting on the target and making it work!

You have my guarantee that next time I am CIC you'll get your requested ride.  Thanks for your flexibility for this frame.

Well done ALL ALLIED squads, the mission largely came off as I had envisioned and I was proud to play a part...

Now, I guess I wait for the scores to see if the numbers looked like the mission did.
