MW : spitVIII/Typhoon perked and Mossie/51B free ?

Most fail to realise -

Spit XVI - Add normal tips, replace 50cals with .303s, add retractible tailwheel and wing tanks - You have Mk VIII.
Most important bit, the motor is the same, albeit the XVI has a U.S. built Merlin 266, VIII is a U.K. built Merlin 66.
The '2' at the front de-notes a foreign/import built Merlin.

There should be (isn't) a difference of 1000ft between the full throttle height of the Merlin 266/66 so assuming the Merlin 266 was modelled using the Merlin 66 data.
So the XVI is actually an LF IXe.

If you check the performance between the XVI and the VIII there is very little to choose between them (apart from the XVI's roll, but an VIII with clipped wings would roll almost just as well).

As for perked?
Well the RAF planeset has managed to become the most perked of the major 3 planesets (prop driven), and manages it with the poorest LW presence of the major 3. -

LW - Spit 14, Tempest
MW - Typhoon, Spit VIII
EW - Spit 9 , Lancaster

Not bad, 50% of the RAF planeset between all 3 arenas, don't think any of the other major 2 players comes close.

Sure, it's nice to boom and zoom, but the La-5 eats it for lunch, so does any MW Spitfire.  It accelerates like a city bus, has a gun package equivalent to the F4F, and has the turn radius of a MAC truck. The Bf-109F4 can turn loops inside it, and the La-5 can out accelerate it, out climb it to 20k, and out guns it.

And we wonder why Hitech unperked it?

The B is a wicked turner if you work the flaps & throttle.

It does have a decent turn rate when using flaps and throttle, but most MW fighters can turn inside it.   Even the Mosquito can turn inside a P-51B on the deck.   Heck, the Mosquito can turn inside the Ki-61 AND the Tiffie using full flaps.

Then again, as Chuck said in CYAC, "remember, it's the man, not the machine" that can determine the outcome of any dogfight.  Having a sharper and longer blade doesn't mean you'll win in a hand-to-hand knife fight, it just means you have a sharper/longer blade.  A lot of us forget that.
