external views not working

I'm having a problem switching views to any view other than the default cockpit one in almost every plane except for a few bombers. Which makes me wonder whether that's a bug or if it's meant to be that way since it works with some planes but not with others, seems kinda of strange since it doesn't make any sense to me why it wouldn't work with all the planes.

It's not a bug, it's a feature!  

Seriously, since WWII pilots couldn't get out of their cockpit to have a better view, outside views are disabled when flying online.

Bombers, on the other hand, had crews of two or more, yet you have to fly it, bomb and control guns alone, or can only have one human gunner aboard. So external views are available to some bombers since you can't count on the eyeball reports of an 8+ crew.
