try defragmenting your HDD.... i just checked mine, and while the whole disk was fine, AHII was very very fragmented due to the new patches causing files to increase in size and them being spred all over the place.

defragged and game loads faster, with no pauses.

try it.:)

degragging your hard disk drive will marginaly improve loading performance, but we're talking such small values here that it isnt worth it.

If your relying on access the hard disk drive during gameplay its a indicator that you need more memory.

For those without more memory, every little bit helps.

Kind of like hair, or just the memory of hair for some.

i got enough memory, but with caching still a issue if the files are all over the place.

it was just a general heads up.

plus i wouldnt exactly call it marginal and "not worth it". Harddrives are the slowest part of any system. Keeping them as fast as possible is always going to help.

bump.....

....remember, new patch can cause fragmentation on your harddrive that will lead to "stuttering" and slow load times. Defrag before moaning how slow the new patch is! :aok

Interestingly, I was unable to use 1024 textures in the previous version, because of some stuttering issues. But now, with the new version, I have no problems with 1024 textures.

The performance requirements for PCs, seems to have actually gone down, instead of up.

I use O&O defrager and it has an option to do a defrag by name of file . It's kinda like a library in alphabetical order . It bunches all of the AH files into one block of the HD . Try it out , its free for a month , then watch how fast the game loads .

OH , i do not take responsibility for any problems you might have with this software, use at your own risk hehe

I was also surprised to see stutters when testing the new patch offline. Frames were in 40:s but there were stutters which I had never previously experienced in AH.

AH is not badly fragmented, but I'll try defragmenting first. Hoping it helps :)
