what kind of planes did they use to train fighter pilots in WW2?

yep.   i think that might be the one.  

the texan.

at least 2, but up to 4 of them dogfight over my house all the time (a few times a week)...i have been trying to identify them with no luck.

the shape looks about the same...squared wings with rounded tail feathers.

everytime i hear them i stop what i am doing and go out to watch them.

yesterday they had one painted with japanese markings v.  what looked like a typical p51 scheme.

now to figure out how to get up in one of those puppies.

they dressed up a load of AT-6 harvard/texans for the film tora tora tora as A6m's if i remember rightly

Theres a few companies around that allow for people to dogfight in prop planes like the Texan. Cost a heck of alot of money.

or the right contacts.  i tend to work on that end of things...a little cheaper that way...

for instance, i might say, hey, looky here, i am painting a nice big picture of your airplane that would look great in your office and you can have it if you take me up on the next cancelled flight.

just a for instance...not impossible these things.

Saw one of them roll in here forfresh paint a few years ago.  It was marked up like a japanese plane both before and after.

not sure...i don't think so...st. augustine is a pretty long haul from here...i am on the gulf between pensacola and panama city...so unless they have another group that operates here.

Ones I know of are the PT-19, BT-13, then the AT-6 (Texan), in that order of advancing skill.  Probably big holes in that though.
