A reason to RTB... Your thoughts PPL
« on: November 26, 2006, 05:12:06 PM »
I was thinking... What if all (currently unperked) planes were perked based upon their eny
And at teh start of every tour you were given a bunch of perks, say 250...

For those of you who just went red in the face and started cursing my CPID... Hear me out

Why:
- People could still choose to fly their favorite plane but they would need to RTB to retain perks.
(This would drive people to improve their flying skills)
- People would not bomb and auger
- People would not use BUFFS as flying coffins
- Variety would be added to the arena
- There would be no point in the 25 perks for winning the reset and as such people would not switch sides as the war got to the end

How
Perk cost should be  40/plane ENY
If the perk value is less than 1 then its free
LA-7 (eny 5)  = 8 Perks
P40B (eny 50) = free

Tour Perks:
- So that everyone gets the chance to fly all the planes everyone would get 250 perks at the start of the tour.
(Thats enough for 31planes with an ENY value of 5)

Bounus Perks:
- Making a successful landing in a damage plane would give you a perk bounus.
(would have to be Major damage to stop perk farming)
- RTBing with a high hit% for the sortie could give you a bounus

What Wrong With This Idea
- Some players have LOTS of perks, I know someone said they have 20K perks.
- Some players would ***** about not getting their favorite rides.
- At the start of the tour the sky's would be full low ENY planes
- It would make some people fly timidly

So anyway... Lets hear you thoughts ppl

The negatives out weigh the positives. Biggest negative I see is that this really only changes the play style of the veteran players. The ones who can confidently get some kills and return to base.

Come to think of it this won't change most of thier behaviors that much, since they can already land kills.

The newer players who are getting shot down 20 times a way will very quickly run out of perk points and won't be able to fly thier favorite planes that they're trying to learn.

So the cons are that the top pilots are not losing perks since they can already land kills regularly. So we're not changing thier behavior at all. This only effects the newer and lesser polits who were not landing kills anyway despite trying thier best.

Some people fly 31 planes in an hour.

Mussie ... nice thought, but this would only encourage timid play. People would constantly run if all cards were not in their favor.

Sorry, but I would not sign on for this idea.

Yep, biggest concern would be folks avoiding the fight for fear of losing.

Fights would probably get higher and higher as folks did everything they could to get an advantage.

For us poor suckers who aren't that good, it would be misery.  And as one who lives in a 38G usually below or in the middle of the mob, I'd be done flying in about an hour.

Get rid of the perks, get rid of the points, let folks fly what they want.  I'll still be chugging around in the 38G.

My guess is once folks figured out that they weren't going to get thier name in lights or on the top of a scoreboard, they'd take more chances and have more fun :)

But then again, to each his own.  As long as I'm not really dying and I have an unlimited supply of 38Gs, I'll keep spreading cyber Lockheed parts all over the arenas.

that happens all the dam time anyway. hell there was 4 planes vs just me and all 4 of them runoff? what the hell?

thats why people fly la7s... to catch the runners.

ive always felt the need to have perks for all planes, making the arena more like a 1942 arena, and not a 1945. however with split arenas this need has gone.

But i can see the reasons again perking all rides too. But there is very very little reason for people to learn how to play this game, if they can just jump straight back into a bran new LA7 or P51 (etc) every time.

a rolling plane set has always been frowned apon BUT.... what about this

each tour, you start fresh, with 0 perks for all players. as the month moves on, more and more perks are available, making the arena progressively move through the years/eny of planes. So the first few days it would be like spit1's, hurri1s etc, then it would move on to 109g's and la5s and the final week would start seeing la7s everywhere.

the ENY/perk system would also adjust over the tour, so that by week 4 all planes upto 25eny are free.

so:
1st week, 60-40eny free, 40-30eny 10-40 perks, 30eny + = 100 perks
2nd week 60-40eny free, 40-30eny 5-20 perks, 30-20eny = 20-40 perks
3rd week 60-30eny free, 30-20eny 5-20 perks 20-15eny = 20-40 perks
4th week 60-20eny free, 20-15eny 5-10perks, 15-5eny 20-200(262) perks

earning perks would be slightly harder cos its a relative equal playing field. and the guys flying "uber" planes in the 3rd week really risk loosing it all, and wont really gain many perks per sortie either.

but then even though i just came up with that, i doubt that would work because, what if you started during week 4? you had no perks, and everyone is flying p51s vs your little spit1? hmm doh. idea shuned by its creator.....LOL:rolleyes:

No good Overlag .... way too restrictive. People have a hard enough time with the little restrictions that we have now ... add to that your idea ... people would go insane.

If I dont have any kills and am going to do something else (more ord, troops, etc), I auger and get another aircraft

RTB? You can RTB in this game? :D

Mussie, i agree with Damionte on this one. Its a nice thought to want to stop the suicide dweebs, but it would hurt new (and old player as well) a lot more then it would help.

(Just checking my Stats: Out of 70 fighter sorties i only actually landed 9 - i would be running out of perks mid tour, if not sooner.)
21 is only half the truth.

Why you want to force others to land? Someones like to land their kills or even land w/o kills, someones dont. Its not your business any way.

I would like to see suicide attackers & bombers punished, but i dont see a way to punish them w/o punish furbollers, noobs and ppl who just like a good fights.

No, it wouldnt. For those who cannt get a kill ~50% far better than 0%.
