Survey-Is ENY Really Needed?
« on: November 27, 2006, 07:01:56 AM »
I just logged on to the Late War Blue Arena at 7:30 a.m. ESt and there were a total of 76 ppl logged on.  26 bish, 15 knights and 35 rooks.  The ENY for Rooks was 21.6 which neutralized flying most of the Late War Planes.  IMHO, since the arena population is now being controlled, ENY is no longer needed in the current arena set ups.  At the very least, I believe that the ENY should be disabled when total arena population is below a certain number, i.e. 100.   Just a thought for consideration.  Wizer

ENY is needed and your statement(s) make that case. With a 2:1 advantage over the Knights, Rooks have a decided #'s advantage. The intended goal of ENY is to motivate voluntary side balancing. I say, keep it as it is.

Get rid of the ENY limiter and instead, in the situation you quoted, for example, kick the offending overpopulation of Rooks into the Mid War Arena. That'll learn them.

It also motivates voluntary logging off. The effect is similar.

Switch to the side with the lowest numbers.

If people won't play the game without a huge numerical imbalance in their favor, and will instead log off, I say, "good". Better odds for everyone else.

We need ENY more than we ever have. If anything HT needs to drop the Barbie's Horse Adventure limits, and make it punitive.

However, in the cited example, there were 26 bish and 15 knights, thus the two countries had 41 pilots  and there were only 35 rooks.  ENY did not effect the Bish  or the Knights, therefore, they were in a more favorable position for Late War planes.  Additionally,  in this case the 35 rooks were engaging both the Bish and the Knights, thereby splitting their number and reducing the numerical advantage.    I am not ranting against the system, just making obversations for consideration of the community and the High Tech Staff.    I Luvvvvv this game.   :D    wizer

I like the idea Wizer....

Since the arena setups ALREADY limit the planeset, perhaps it is time to look at eliminating the ENY limits (or changing them?).

Food for thought....thanks Wizer.

Geez, c'mon.  So you ONLY had almost as many players as the other 2 countries combined?  And you actually had to fight BOTH of them?  What were they thinking?  No, really, are you saying that neither of the other countries were fighting each other splitting their numbers as well?  If they were'nt I wouldn't blame them considering it was the only way to maintain equal footing.
