After using the rather hard to master search function of the bbs, there are only 3 other posts asking for this same aircraft in the past 3 months.

Anyone have some duct tape I can borrow???

Then why not just bump one of those old threads.

I am sure a few of them actually have data on the aircraft.

Not just a "This aircraft would b uber l33t" thread.

Ok then post some aircraft data, those that post data usually get a positive response.  But just saying we need an aircraft that has been asked for many times in the past is not needed.

But hey if you feel the need to add nothing new, just ask for a b29 maybe even with the n00k.  Maybe furball will post his little movie in it.  :aok

I was actually going to delete everything, but the time limit had passed.

Not sure why I was fired up yesterday, might be the cabin fever from the cold front coming in.  I know I could feel it in my government issued refurbished shoulder.  :D

It's past now though so lets get on with the honey roasted peanuts for the rest of this flight ;)

:aok

That reply to debonairs post was a slight attempt at some humor :)

Here u go buddy:aok

The Westland Whirlwind. Entered RAF service in June of 1940. It was HIGHLY manoeuvrable, FASTER than a spitfire at low altitude, and its ARMAMENT of FOUR 20mm cannons in the nose made it a MATCH for any German FIGHTER of the day. Although due to some engine problems only two squadrons were form Nos 137 and Nos 263, and then later converted to the fighter-bomber role as the Whirlwind MK 1A. It had a top speed of 360mph (Remember this is 1940) and a range of 800miles. I think this should be added for BoB and EWA as a medium perked aircraft. This would kick A!

Edit: I've been asking for this plane for sometime now. It meets all AH requirments to be added to the game. It fought, was in 2 squadrons, and was in WW2.

It's a good allied alternative to the Bf-110.  It even looks purdy.

It fought, did it? Was it ever in combat? Did it ever get any kills? And it might be a 1940 prototype, but it wasn't actually active til.. what? ... 1942? The engine problems killed it, almost completely.

I wouldn't mind seeing it some day, but it's a total what-if plane. It's like the Ki84 in Ah right now: No bugs, no engine problems, no landing gear that breaks more than it doesn't, etc etc. Historically these problems crippled the plane's effectiveness, but in AH it's almost unbeatable.

This is from my book.

The Encyclopedia of Aircraft

"Designed Originally as a long-range escort fighter, the Westland Whirlwind first flew on11 October 1938, but did not enter RAF service until June 1940. Its intended powerplant was the Rolls-Royce Merlin, but as this was earmarked for the Spitfires and Hurricans the Rolls-Royce Peregrine - an upgraded version of the Kestrel - was chosen instead. The Whirlwind was highly manoeuvrable, faster than a Spitfire at low altitude, and its armament of four 20mm cannon in the nose made it a match for any German fighter of the day. Continual problems with the engine, however, delayed its service debut; only two squadrons (Nos 137 and 263) were equipped with it. It was later converted to the fighter-bomber role as the Whirlwind MK1A. "

Says it entered service in 1940 just in time for BoB. Did it not start combat tell 42?
