CZ-USA Redhead Deluxe

28" barrel, a shade under 8lbs and a very solid and smooth feel. Fits me like a glove and I can't wait to start putting rounds through it.

I'd wanted a gun that I could use on the range as well as the field for pheasant, dove and wetland birds.

Nice gun. Was shopping an over and under this last year. Decided on a Beretta, was tempted by the Rugers, they come well to point for me.

I bought a Red Label a few years back and one of the reasons was it came to point real easy. It was a bit short stocked for me, had to extend it then I added a mid sight and had the cone lengthened. Love the gun. Best shotgun I ever owned.

BTW, like an idiot I forgot to congratulate Golfer on his new purchase. Nice gun! Reminded me a lot of the Ruger Red Label when I first saw the pic. Hope you enjoy it as much ( actually more, havn't gone shooting in a while ) as I have mine.

I'd tried on a few other guns. Berettas didn't fit me well at all. Browning Citori's, Benelli and Ruger were all guns I'd looked at.

A lot of guns felt good. A lot of them felt "right." This one felt good, right and was easy on the pocketbook for the quality I feel I've received.

Over unders are the top of the line in a shotgun AFAIAC. They are a true gentlemans shotgun. Does yours have removable chokes or fixed?

screw in chokes, mav. It comes with 5 tubes however I don't remember how many of which there are. I'd hope for 2 full, 2 improved and 1 modified. I haven't taken official delivery...still the waiting period.

I need the utility to shoot from 16 to 27 yd trap, skeet, sporting clays on up to ducks/geese and pheasant.

I went to one because I was tired of chasing my shell hulls at each station. Thinking of a Benelli Supersport for my next gun, for field use.

If what you had was a remington 11-00 or 11-87 all you need to do is flip the metal ring that's under the rubber O-ring going around the magazine tube. This cuts the gas off to the ports and the gun won't cycle on recoil alone.

The 11-00 was designed this way because trap/target shooters wanted to eject the shells themselves rather than having the gun spray the empties over the guy down the line from you. I guess it carried over to the 11-87 because it works on my dad's 1100 and my 1187.

Same goes for if you just clean the gun and it won't feed...flip the metal ring and voila...problem solved.

http://www.dhshotguns.com/ If anyone is looking to get an Over and Under, I recomend going there. For the quality that they give, they are pretty cheap.

Just avoid the trapshooting model. My father got it and said the raised stock was painful to shoot.

But mine is a beautiful gun. Awesome engraving, with gold on the reciever. It shoots amazingly, with the full spread of 5 chokes. They can be placed by hand, but I always tighten them with the wrench.

Ever since coming to school, I haven't really had the chance to go trapshooting. That and 6 dollars per round of trap is too expensive for me.

"trap" grade guns do have raised combs, ribs and often adjustable stocks/combs and the like.

The high rib and cheek make shooting them comfotable for lots of shots during the day. Laying your head down on the comb isn't the right way to shoot the gun...your eyes should be pretty close to level making for an easier target aquisition and quick shot on the range.

It's hard to do but if you try to force your body around the gun I can see how it would be uncomfortable.

It's all in what you're looking for. If you've never shot one or shoot one imporperly...a trap grade gun will certainly feel different.

I only wish I had a few grand laying around to pick up a showpiece to use only on a range. Maybe in my other pants...

Out of curiousity does your dad still have the gun and is he willing to part with it?

He still has it, but he fared down the stock to his liking. He's definately holding onto it after all the work he put into it.

It wasn't just him that hated the raised combing. Everyone who tried the gun hated it as well.

Nice shotgun Golfer. How much did that set you back if you don't mind my asking?

I've been looking for a nice O/U that won't break the bank. Right now everone looks at me like I'm a terrorist or something when I go to the trap range. I use a Remington 870 Express Magnum with a phosphate finish and synthetic stock and forgrip.

I have shot a couple of perfect scores with it, but I would like to get something a little more "in line" with everyone else.
