Need some help from Skuzzy or some other knowlegable person.

I am looking at a vid card comparison chart at Toms Hardware and need to know which, if any, of the games they tested would produce a similar framerate if the card were used in Aces High. Just trying to find out which card to get with new puter which will be a c2d (6400 or 6600), 2gig 6400 ram.

The games tested are:

Half Life 2
Hard Truck Apocalypse
Oblivion
Prey
Rise of Nations
Titanquest

I have a BFG 7900gtx, it will handle BF2, AH, and Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter with full details @ 1280x1024 with no problems. I have been very pleased with this card.

I have a 7600GT, which is a little lower in price but for the bucks the best performer I could get.

Running 1280x1024, highres pack, 2x AA and full details with FR between 70-85 (Vsync off i got over 300). (This is working together with a 3700 AMD Athlon and 2 GB RAM)

Well I finally got my new 8800GTS system together. And as I feared the 2D desktop quality still is clearly inferior to ATI products.

Last nvidia I'll ever buy.

Ripley, what kind of monitor do you have? How is it set up? What type of connector do you use on the cable? What settings have you got on the card itself?

I have never had problems with poor 2D quality with Nvidia, ever. I have worked in computer labs and seen non-Nvidia cards go all fuzzy on the screen, but we're talking monitors that have to last until they burn out, budget cards, and cheap setups.

I wonder if the card is fine but something else is causing the problem.

There's no questioning when I use the same monitor (Samsung syncmaster 21" CRT), same cable, same type of DVI-VGA connection and ATI blows nvidia away in IQ but loses in speed obviously.

Maybe you don't realize the difference if you've used only nvidia and seen nothing better.
