Bomb Wing Mission Roster
« on: December 11, 2006, 12:51:07 AM »

Going off film and memory this is who I have and what I saw. The people shown are people who were on the film, a few minutes into the mission. Some guys left the mission and upped as enemy, so no credit there. This was taken before first contact with enemy.

If you rtb'd, or had kills, and this doesnt show it, please let me know.

We will have to see what Hitech's new system will do to the ability to hold this in the MA. We may end up holding it in the AvA as we normally have, which works great. Guys in there know how to make the sides work, and set up the intercept historically and evenly.

Let's bear with it, and plan on Mission #2 sometime after the holidays.

Slots are still open for those interested.

Anytime on a Saturday I'd be there.

I got the boot as a gunner for the original Bigweek but those 10 minutes were a blast.

Are you not tracking escorts?

I think itīs a bit difficult to track - there were no genuine escorts in the original mission. Friendly fighters joined & left our group all along the way. Itīs much harder to tell who was really escorting us.

As undoubtly the missions & procedures will refine from sortie to sortie, I can imagine that Filth may setup a kind of fighter wing, giving itīs on coordinated escort duty under a competent leader.

I had one kill, and RTB'd with only plane though.

Taxed my Laptop to the end.
Floatsup.

Cheers
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

Trukk, Lusche gave an excellent answer. At this time about the best I can do is rate the size of the escort. If you do this regular, please keep track of your missions as escort, let me know and I will add a spot for you. I just had a feeling that most of the escorts would be coming from the host countries.

Well, we showed up 10 minutes before the hour, waited until about half passed for the bombers to lift and then flew escort the whole time.  So I think that should qualify.  Sure we're noobs and I killed myself a couple of times :(, but the effort was there.  It's not a problem, but don't forget the "little friends".

I rtb'd with two bombers left and two scalps to my credit.  1 ME 110 (skycptn) and 1 ME 163 (GHI).  By the way, GHI was the one that took one of my drones but I evened the score.  It cost him more. :aok

i got 4 kills before dying.... ;)

but then i bombed the wrong target...... (i knew that 250s wouldnt kill HQ)

i wrote down some "issues" and what we could do to improve things.... just gotta edit it before sending.... heres a small selection of comments?

main issues was:

1: FPS.... serenity (from my squad) for instance crashed out due to his FPS dropping below zero.

we have 3 groups, we should try either launch from diff fields (a issue on the map we had that night) or up 1 or 2 minutes apart. that way the instant FPS drop wouldnt be so aparent. plus you wouldnt get people just upping as soon as the spawned into mission. so you would keep groups together.

if we flew as 3 seperate flights, untill we reached cruise alt or enemy airspace before we formed up, fps would be less of a issue for those on slower system (hell i was under 20fps most the flight!!!)

2: Channels. Each group should tune to a seperate channel, group leaders and main "leader" should have there own channel too. this way the leaders can plan the flights, and then tell there group.

Range channel used for fighter reports.... try and keep chatter to min.

3: formations. We had good formations... but leaders should never be at full throttle.. plus if you are on auto climb you will NEVER catch the leader (if he is on auto climb too) because autoclimb sets your speed to  the best climb speed (135 in b17 i think?). So the guys behind the leader, trying to catch up will only gain alt faster. One of the best ways to catch up is to have the leader always fly at 40ish mp and have the guys in the rear flying at max power, with a climb speed 10mph faster than default... setting this by typing ".speed 145" this way you will catch leader at 10mph.

i wrote like 2 pages of a4... dont think i will end up posting it all....

I love the ideas of PROPER bomber missions and i everyone that showed up. IT was fantastic to be apart of it... :aok

I claim a poor, unfortunate Me163 who stumbled into my gunsights.

Rgr ill ammend the pic for all.

We're gonna move this to the AvA so we can all go in it. We can get interceptors formed on the other team as well as our escort. Just aint gonna work in MA anymore. Glad we snuck one in b4 the change tho :P
