Greetings,
While the changes are changes and I can adapt, I must state that I do miss the ol' days when I could find the people I used to fly with. I tend to fly 'lone wolf' now. Not because I want to, just because there aren't that many people I know to wing with.
I tend to fly a 47, (well, okay, pretty much exclusively) and it is tough to stay out there without a wingie - that likes the same bird and understands each other's roles (guns and eyes). I am beginning to understand why the 16 and LA are so popular - good lone wolf planes.
The squad I was (key word, was) in way prior to the recent changes, had some issues. Old timers who didn't fly anymore tried to dictate how we should act in the game. This resulted in a quick split in the camp - from which the squad has not, and I think will not, recovered. What I learned from that event was that common experiences build common memories and common memories build friendships. The OTers and the NTers had no common memories to work from. Without those memories, you can't build a real team of friends - at best you have a band of roving furballers. The ability to build common memories is what the game used to have and is now missing.
Now, I fly from fight to fight. I seldom 'see' ppl I used to fly with. Now there is no rush of saving a pal, no rush of achieving whatever it was that we started out to do. Just a cartoon plane floating through a cartoon sky to shoot at cartoon figures.
Just seems to me that AH has lost that 'something' that used to separate it from Runequest, BF2 series, and the rest.
Regards,
