they have been publishing a series of what seem to be shockingly "pro" illegal immigration articles this week.  (muich to the chagrin of the local population)

i am wondering if you might be able to give me some practical advice on writing letters to the editor.

Pro "illegal" immigration or pro immigration? Which paper? You've got me curious now, I wanna follow up :)

Each of our properties is pretty much autonomous in terms of control of editorial content. That would include policy regarding publishing letters to the editor. Our editor here is a real curmudgeon, but is also very good about giving priority to dissenting opinions when choosing what letters to publish. I would hope that the editor where you are is the same way.

I'm sure whichever property it is has an e-mail address for this purpose, make it easy on yourself and use that. We are under a corporation-wide mandate from our CEO to expand our internet presence as much as possible, and for that reason we also prioritize e-mail contributions plus mark them as such when we publish them. We want people to see us as an information gateway both in hardcopy and as a web presence.

I'll be curious as to how you fare, keep me posted.

Hmmmm.

Well, I've been there, found the series, read it. Some good reading, thanks for the headsup.

I'm very curious as to why you would characterize this stuff as "pro illegal immigration". It doesn't seem to be anything of the sort to me.

Matter of fact, my view is that its overall a very accurate and even-handed treatment of some extremely important issues. I'm gonna send that editor and reporter "attaboys" :)

todays wasn't as bad.  the first and second of the series inspired the question to you.

it has some major inaccuracies (i know because i got pretty deep into one of the communities) and it also fails to address the problems that they have brought to the communities that they have come to.

i am still working on this...i'll let you in on it when i have completed it.

its alot of info and alot of things from a very different impression of how they are operating.

in other words...i think that my point is that i am writing a letter to the editor as a counter point to the perspective of the illegals and to address the issue itself.

i am not ANTI immigration.  not even remotely...but i am pretty much opposed to anything that attempts to create empathy for lawbreakers without taking the environment in which they are breaking the law into account...or the impressions of local citizens with regards to those who knowingly hire them,  (and ohhh yes, they know)

i used the wrong words when i said, "pro" but that was because the first two articles had a certain slant that was obviously not accounting for some of the realities that i have seen very clearly.
