One powerball ticket I had was one number off on all but 2 numbers, which I had matched for those two.  I won 7 dollars.

That's the American dream? I wish somebody had told me before I went to graduate school.

Congrats on your winnings sir. Though I haven't bought a lotto ticket for quite some time,  I'm happy when someone wins.  Won about $7.00 from my lottery exploits.  Must admit it was fun dreaming about how to go about investing $20 M say.  If I'm at a place that sells them I may buy one.  I say "may" because I don't really have the time (or inclination) to check on the numbers.  We don't have a lottery here.

Think it was back in the early 80s when McDonalds had the million dollar grand prize for its Monopoly game.  I believe the winning piece was one that said "instant winner" on it.  A buddy of mine remembers giving his peel-off stickers to the policeman directly in line behind him.  Well, a local policeman won that million dollars, and to this day my friend wonders if that was the policeman standing behind him in line.  Guess he'll never know.

Amazingly, I read in the newspaper several years ago of someone picking up a discarded/dropped/unsigned lotto ticket from a parking lot which turned out to be a multi-million dollar winning ticket.  Talk about luck.  Good luck for the finder anyway.

The very first time they had the Texas Lotto I played.

Hit 3 of 6.

Won 2 bucks.

Bought a pack of smokes with it.

Liar, you can't get a pack of smokes for 2 bucks.

:)

Just kidding, I don't know what smokes cost 'cause I'm a hater when it comes to that particular vice.

One of the managers where I work won 200k 2 weeks ago in the TN state lotto.
After taxes take home was about 150k.

If he had played the "multiplier" number for an extra $1 it would have been 600k.

He took the next day off to drive to Nashville to pick up the booty.

I would have flown..hehehe.

Merry Christmas indeed.

I'm a hater 'cause my Mom is killing herself with smoking, I grew up listening to her cough her lungs out when she would wake up at midnight choking, and on a personal note it aggravates my allergies.  My sister and younger brother also smoke and it sux watching them act the slave to their addiction.  It pretty much governs their daily schedule, like it does for most smokers.  Also, many of my co-workers smoke and they spend about an hour a day outside smoking while I'm inside working.

My wife is a radiologist and it's just a matter of time before some smoker with lung cancer tries to sue her for somehow missing the lung cancer that is going to kill them anyhow no matter how hard she looks for that tiny spot on the x-ray the one time in their life they come in to get checked out.

That's without even considering the various ways smokers increase health care insurance costs.

Yea, I'm a hater.  If people really want to kill themselves, I have a gun they can borrow...  Save the rest of us some $$$ and the hassle of dealing with their polluted carcass when they die.  Sickest thing I've seen recently was some old dude hauling around an O2 bottle, dropping the tube for a few min so he could get his hit.  If I was king, he wouldn't get a dime from any medical insurance or any publicly funded health care for any lung related disorder.  He did it to his own damn self and it pisses me off I have to pay for it.

And of course when he's done, he's gonna drop the butt on the ground, carefully step on it, and walk away leaving it there on the ground.

Plus I'm gonna have to take care of my Mom when she's the one coughing her lungs out, hauling around that damn taxpayer provided O2 bottle and dropping the tube for another hit, while my eyes and nose start running from the effect smoke plus allergens have always had on me.

Hate doesn't really express the true scope of my feelings about smoking, but I'd honestly be satisfied if public health care and insurance funding for lung related disorders were simply cut off for smokers.  Why should I pay for their addiction, especially since so many are so utterly convinced of their "right" to smoke and to receive taxpayer funded health care for smoking related illness, on top of the personal discomfort it causes me?

Few groups of people are so utterly anti-social towards society in general as smokers.  Hell, I prefer the idea of commie pinko liberal democrats running congress over smoking.

in 24 years. the single largest amount I ever won on ANY kind of the state run lotteries is.......
$56

Now Im not one of those Gung Ho players who spends half his money on playing the lotteries.
I've seen people who spend a cuple hundred dollars a week on it.

No for me its when and if I remember to play

Typically over the last couple years when I stop in my local convinience store along with my purchice I'll get 1 quick 6 on the Mega millions and one $1 scratch off.
If my daughter is with me I'll get one for her too

On those the most Ive won was $10. on the cratch offs and $5 on the Mega
I figger WTF
If I dont play at all I have Zero chance. and if I do play even my usual $4 per week. well who knows.

Thing that kills me is it seems typically the people who win the BIG money.
Either dont really NEED it cause they have money already. Or dont deserve it.

EVERY once in a while you hear of someone who was really down on their luck and hurting bad  or just really needing the money for whatever reason who wins Big.
But not usually
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty
