Anyone else fans of IKEA?
« on: December 14, 2006, 12:54:06 PM »
Yesterday I got two truckloads of IKEA furniture and addons delivered to the house im fixing up to sell. For almost two straight days ive been mounting kitchens and everything else so I need a breather. :D  The instruction manuals alone could fill a small euro car...

Dunno if im supposed to laugh, cry or just log on to AH and let the rest sit in its boxes for a few more days..... im exhausted.

Soo.. anyone else buy alot of crap from IKEA? or is that not a big thing across the pond?

IKEA has some pretty neat stuff, they also have some crap.   They are good for some very off-the-wall stuff too.  The WIfe and I have fun at our local IKEA.  It is just sort of neat to see what twisted idea has been implemented.

The real money saver (atleast here) is all the addons and extras like knives, glass, bulbs, and everything else you can imagine. The furniture has ALOT better quality now than they used to have in the 80s and 90s and if you stay away from the dirt cheap options they will last you for ever (that is not always a plus as they tend to make trendy stuff). Its been a long time since i have come across a set that is missing pieces too so their qualtiy control has gone up.

The house im fixing to sell is going to have a very modern interior so IKEA is perfect for that. if you want to go old-school then the IKEA choises are bad as its easy to see that its far from old and it will look st00pid.

When im done i hope i never get to see another umbraco again tho :D

Just had a new Ikea open up here a few miles from my house.  Daughter got a new bed out of the grand opening, looking at some office furniture now.

Good and bad stuff, just have to look at it.  But, gotta love them meatballs!!!

Was the boy aware that you were stalking him with the Camera, Rip, or is that just something to be expected at your house?

The locations are almost unshoppable here on weekends because of the crowds, and 75% of the time the real cool stuff (or the real cool colors) is sold out because they cut their "just in time" inventory way too close.

Some of the stuff is crap, but a lot of it is pretty nice for the money. We bought core pieces from better furniture stores and used IKEA to fill in the rest, and that worked well and was very cost effective.

The wife just finished painting the room, and furnishing it. We wanted a "before" and when he moves out, an "after" shot. ;)
That's the cleanest we'll ever see that room.:cry

IKEA must be rolling in it if they can afford to pay a child actor to lounge around in their displays like that... man, thats the job for me!
