Amazing that the Hurricane IIc is 5th.  No one else even close to those 5.

that is interesting.  i have seen more 51's in the air, though i thought it was my imagination.  seems like same amount of n1ks.  la7 pilots should be ashamed, as if flying one wasn't enough:) j/k.

I would have thought it was the LA-7 followed by whatever is on my six at any given time. Maybe the constant DWEEB calling has stopped a few from the LaLA and spixteen. I dunno...Niki has cannons a plenty and flys rather nice and the P-51 is a great all around plane. I'm trying to get the F6f and the FM-2 up there, but I can't shoot. The death catagory is rising nicely though.

Would explain it's sudden popularity.

hurricane 11c is the most used aircraft in early.its not perked and its gogt 4x20mm so its always the first plane to be upped at a field

I think if the ENY keeps going GaGa the way it has, you'll start seeing the P-51B climbing up too.

Probably about 1/3 of the time I'm in during peak hours I'm forced to downgrade to the B from the D.

Until the last of my squaddies log off and I switch sides and break out my altar ego...

Considering I'm lucky to kill anything with 6 .50s and my stellar marksmanship- yes, losing a pair is a downgrade.

Funny....I've read old threads where "noobs" were encouraged to fly the Niki because it's an "easy ride with 4 cannons and a ton of ammo".  Hell, it can do 500mph in a dive and stall turn like an SOB.  It just can't take bullets well.  I used to fly it often.

The 51 makes sense because it is the "Default" plane, pretty forgiving and once you have your E up not much can catch it high.   Not only that, it is probably a fan favorite (until someone discovers the NIKI and its cannons ;-) ).

Most of the time I fly "base defense" or "de-ack" missions.  Hence, the LA7 and LA5 do nicely.   If I have time, I up a Tiffy however it fly's like a truck for me.  I throw the stick over and find myself saying "come on baby roll .... plllleeeeasssseee!"  But if you get a chunk of someone with those cannons...parts come off quickly ;-).

Personally, I can't keep a damn 109X flying!! I put it into a turn and whoop I am upside down! Wing stalls at 250 mph are very frustrating for me.  So I avoid flying them for the most part.

F6F off the CV because it carries 2x1K bombs and 6 rockets.  Gonna need those for the SB or town.  

BF110 for killing a GV base or dumping ord on a town.

B-24s to precision bomb a base to shreds ;-)


Yeah... Im a bomber/ground attack pilot ;-)  

Never fear if I am on your 6....I can't hit a moving target worth a s**t ;-)

I took down some stats March-April-May of this year when everyone was complaining that Spixteens and LA7s were all anyone ever saw.  I did it basically to show that the complaints were unjustified.  Using kills and deaths as you did, after removing all GVs and bombers LAs and Spixteens made up just under 20% of all kills and deaths among fighters.  At that time, N1ks and P51s were always in the top 5 along with Typhys.  Hurri IIC was as high as 6th during those four months.

I surmised at the time that the people complaining about never-ending LA7s and Spixteens were seeing a local phenomenon around fighter town, because to my perception they were less numerous than the typhys and ponys.

After the split, we have had no fighter towns to speak of.  Further more, the distances between bases seem farther on some of these smaller maps we have had to see over and over and over.

Thus, birds with high performance but shorter legs are less in demand than those that can both perform and make it to the enemy and back.  This would put the P-51 and N1K to the head of the top 5.

Then what Kev / Rogerdee said about the IIC.

I would guess that the Typhy is probably #6, but that is just a guess (too lazy to look it up myself right now).

Excluding the 51 guess people need to have them cannons.

And all are fast except the nik.

No suprise either have lots of heavy firepower or fast.

The N1K is an excellent vulcher. The 51 is an iconic airplane, and has decent speed, ord load, range, etc. The Spit is possibly the best furball plane, and the La7 is great for chasing down those pesky vulching N1Ks. The Hurri is a good furballer and useful for field defense as well.

That being said, I prefer the p51B to the D....It's a better fighter at low level, which is where I spend most of my time...and for some reason I do better with 4x 50s than 6x 50s...odd, eh?
