Why are there no Eastern time based events?
« on: December 20, 2006, 04:57:44 AM »
It seems that everything is either at 3pm Eastern or 10pm Eastern which leaves anyone on the East coast out in the cold (unless you are a retired nighthawk).

The people that put the events together do what's easiest for them.

Now it's your turn.

Put something together at a time that you want and run her up the flagpole and see who salutes.

ummm, not really true, events are scheduled to give the most people a chance to attend.  Close Escort runs on Sunday afternoons.  I'd rather run it at other times ;)

But its true what you said, if you have an idea, run her up the ol' flagpole :)

Trukk, can you be more specific?  What time slot are you hoping for?  We try to be as open as possible, and allow for Most players to attend all events.  These time slots seem to work best for No one, and if no ones happy we probably nailed it :D   3pm EST is Noon PST, move it to Noon EST and the West Coast has to be going at 9am.  Evening at 10pm EST is 7pm PST, if we move it back to say 7pm EST then that's 4pm PST, no ones home yet.  Add to the mix the Euro time slots and they are up very late or 3am.

Not easy to schedule across multiple time zones, but again, what did you have in mind?

If you can come up with better times that gets as many players as possiable across all time zones go ahead .. but remember we've already tried alot of different times .

I agree that's it's impossible to have a single event that works for everyone.  The time differences are just too large (and are getting worse as online gaming becomes more and more global).  What you can do though is schedule based on the major markets (population density per timezone).

For me and the guys in the squad our gaming time is generally from about 7pm to 10pm.  By 7pm folks are generally done dinner and they are good-to-go until about 10pm when they've got to start heading to bed for the next day's work/school.  I would imagine that generally holds true for much of the customer base.

If you look at population densities and time zones the three primary markets are Euro, Eastern and Pacific.  AH has two main times for events, Pacific 8pm prime time and Euro 8-9pm prime time, but there's nothing for Eastern prime time.

I'd like to see an event during Eastern prime time (8pm Eastern).  Saturday night would be good as there doesn't appear to be other events on that night and it would give the west coast guys a chance to participate.

There are some events that are not getting the attendance they deserve, which may have alot to do with their time slot.  This time frame might be something to consider.

My only concern is we "attempt" to get a scenario out quarterly and run them saturdays, so we'd have a full plate of events if they ran back to back.

Worth looking at, I'll see what we can come up with.

Thanks Trukk.
