joystick problems...

Im using a Top Gun Fox 2pro joystick and it so happens i programmed everythin in the controls so there shoudnt be a problem right? wrong!
when i press the trigger to fire my primary weapon the command happens to "stick" by this I mean it wont stop shoting until it runs out of bullets!

What do I do o' great guru of forums?

I would guess that somethings causing the trigger button to send repeat input to the game software. Sorry, but I don't have a cure to offer you. I can say that your joystick has been given a "thumbs down" by numerous players.

Hopefully someone will offer you a fix.

This happened to me at least twice. Both times recalibrating fixed the issue.
I use a crappy old old old four button 4way hat stick and program within AH.

This has happened to me as well.  I fixed it by landing and restarting AH.  It has happened on more then one occasion.

Go into your window settings and open the properties of the joystick so you can see what buttons are pressed.  Check to see if your fire button is sticking.

There has been a bug around a while ago that popped up every now and then. Unfortunatly i cant tell you anything specific, but after checking your Joystick button for "sticking" try unplugging and replugging your stick, rebooting the computer. Recalibrate the stick in Windows, launch the game and recalibrate in game.... see if that helps

I have had this happen b4 the new version came out, and all i did was restart and it went away. It hasnt happned to me in a awhile though.

I do have a question of my ownn though. Does your joystick wobble, what I mean by that, when u get on someones six, and zoom in, are you all over the place or is it steady. Mine is all over the place. I have experimented with dead band, and all sorts of stuff. havent gotten it right yet. SO
If anyone is using this POS joystick, please, please post your settings in advanced options, and let me know what your using.

IMHO the problem with Trustmaster gear lies in the fact that the "pots" (reads axis movement) they use are crapola, even in the high-end Cougar HOTAS which sells for a mere $250.

You have a couple of options:
Look for a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 on Ebay. It's a terrific basic, twist handle stick with an 8 way view hat. Have 2 of 'em...smooth as silk.

Saitek's Evo ($40) is a nice stick but they never seem to last more than a year before the calibration/pots wear out.

Saitek's X52 is a good deal at $120. The "heavy metal" version is due out in January.

CH Products makes the best stuff on the market. You'll spend $250 +/- for the full rig but it'll last a lifetime and they offer great customer support. It's really a shame that CH hasn't offered a Evo-like twist handle stick in the $50 range. I guess they figure that folks will pony up the $250 sooner ot later

The dead band only helps take the "slop" out of an old stick. Meaning that the random spikes are filtered out so it doesn't jump around by its self. As you are working for the shot, your moving your stick around a bunch, zooming in agrivates the view by "magnifiing " every movement. The slides to adjust "when" and how "hard" the stick movements can get rid of some of this, but you should work at the other solution..... learn to fly  

First don't get in the habbit of having to zoom in to take a shot. Learning what the "site picture" should be for a shot in regular view. This will help in "multi-target" fights. less time switching "in" and "out".  

Second, learn to get smooth. Fly to where you think your shot is and shoot! If the plane don't blow up, fly to the next shot, and shoot! Hunters don't fiddle with their aim as they linie up a shot, they lead the target and shoot!

Don't teach yourself bad habits, learn the good ones.

I d/l'd this the other day. Thought I would try it out. I play another sim game online. Not much fun lately. I use a Logitech extreme 3d pro stick. I was able to map everything i wanted but the throttle. How can I do that with this stick? I must be doing something wrong. All I could seewas RPM and throttle settings, When I move the slider on the stick it is registering in game. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ok, I figured it out. And I got into the air, and I was, somehow, able to shoot some down in practice/offline mode. I will do this for a while to get the hang of it so I won't be asking so many questions in game. Thats what I did in the other game anyway and I still had questions. Oh, I found the answer in another section of this forum. Next I will actually try to land! LOL

Asking questions is good.  There is a lot to learn.  It is best to ask the questions in the right areas if you want a straight answer.  All of the help and Support Forums are a good place to ask questions.  If your flying on-line, bring your questions to the Training Arena.  Asking basic questions in any of the Main Arenas will get you the kind of smart answers that will not help you

I have a pretty good handle on the other game, it's just the "physics" is nowhere near the same. That will take some getting used to. I want to practice a lot of the basic flying first offline, don't want to make it any easier than I have to! LOL! But thanks for the reply though, I do appreciate it.
