Got a question.......
« on: December 31, 2006, 06:27:25 PM »
I noticed this awhile ago but just now decided to post on in it.  I have a pretty good computer plenty good for what i need to max out Aces high settings.

Here are some basic stats on the computer

1024MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS 512MB
Intel(R)Pentium(R) D CPUZ 2.66GH.z (2 CPUs)
19inch LCD flat screen moniter

But ive noticed since I have turned on the HiRes package that when looking at trees about 800 or farther out that i cant see through them!? I can see the trees but the trees are in no detail at all justt a blob. When Enemy tanks sit in the trees at TT by there spawn i cant even see them to hit thim all i see are a bunch of ****y looking trees hehe. Its kinda like the trees arnt focasing at all so i get a blob ill post a pick if i can.

Also when i turn on animated water my sound crackles but only when im above 3K when im below 3 k looking and furballing with the animated water on its fine but as soon as i go above 3k and look at the water my sound starts to crack??

Help??? hehe TY in advance

Husky, im not sure that rig can really handle the high res pack. Especially not with AntiAliasing turned on.

Also, with only 1 Gig RAM and 512/1024 textures, do NOT preload skins - they need 2.5 GB RAM. You can preload textures into system ram though. Make sure you also have both "optimize" functions checked.

As for sound: With the graphics on the limit of the ressources, you might just run out of them for sound. Do you have onboard sound chip or sound card? Are you using custom sounds (they need a lot more ressources as the default ones).

Another thing you can do is check your processes/system. The more you got running in the background, the less Aces High can take from your system. Maybe you can get out a little more, even though i doubt that helps much if you have the problems you describe.

If you cannot get it fixed, go back to 512 textures - that probably cleans it up.

Hope this helps you.

Schatzi what is Anti Aliasing??

Also If i do not pre load when im in the game i do not get tunnel vision when i black out it goes straight to black.

And when im over the water with everything maxed out even by a burning cv with a furball going on im pulling a frame rate of 75 strong.

AntiAliasing is a graphics card setting. It removes the jagged edges by interpolating... takes a lot of ressources.

You can preload textures, but not skins. Even my 2 GB of RAM arent enough to preload skins... i had all sorts of random CTDs untill i turned that option off. (BTW; those crashes happened at max FR, so thats not neccessarily an indicator).

Another question: What driver version are you using with that card?

Run a dxdiag (START > RUN > dxdiag .

Check on the "Video" tab.... to the upper right, in the driver box, look for the version. Probably 6.14.0010.xxxx - those XX.XX are the driver version. The older NVidia cards do not run well with the 9x.xx drivers, they cause all kinds of trouble. Downgrade to one of the 8x.xx drivers (im running my 7600 GT with the 84.66 driver).

Google is your friend :)

Ive never downgraded vid driver myself yet. I would probably try to just install the older driver over the new one. You might have to remove the 90 driver first though, as i said, Im not 100% sure.

Maybe someone that actually has done this before can help out?

My trees only started doing that since the last major patch came out.

Running a 6600GT with 8X.xx series drivers.    An ememy gv in there is all but invisble.   From what I have heard, this is the norm now for a lot of GV'ers.

yup looks like that for me aswell, and my skins/textures/whatever are all bog standard, if some people can still see through them, or used to be able to, would explain why i used to get splatted from nowhere when i thought i was hiding in a forest :P

In here you can effectively hit targes (buildings) out to 5K if you play with the views.

I have killed panzers at 3+K.   Its kind of funny,  you shoot at them...see where the round hits and just keep adjusting.  They're looking around and can see where the heck you are shooting from. ;-)

For the most part I get richochets off the armour, however about 1 in 8 finds the soft spot on top of their turret.  That shell is coming straight down by then ;-)
