1.06 and Windows 2000 problem

Just downloaded 1.06 update and isntalled it. AH does start but before anything is displayed on screen it dies and I'm back to desktop.

Downloading full version now, maybe it helps.

If you don't have up to date and properly configured sound drivers, it will behave exactly like this as well.  Just one possibility.

Well, 1.05 worked just fine yesterday and today it started before I tried the update. So I think this is caused by AH 1.06 update.

Jochen, (and/or anyone)

I am having the same problem.  I am running Win 2000 and have current drivers.  I have tried both the update and the full version.  To make sure ver 1.06 was the problem I have reinstalled both ver 1.05 and 1.06.  Ver 1.05 works and 1.06 does not.

Anyone have ideas?

Yes does not work with 2000 for me. 1.05 was fine

Oh, so it is not just me. Hopefully HTC finds time to fix the bug, I think that it cannot be very serious. I would not like to install Windows 98 just because of Aces High 1.06 while earlier versions have worked perfectly.

Hitech told to delete settings directory as a test (AH will create new setting directory) and it worked! If you have problem, try this out.

It worked me once... I deleted the settings directory and AH started nciely once but not anymore.

Removing settings directory did not help.
I won't install 98 to play. I'll Just wait and if nothing happens well I will just stop playing and paying.

I appear to have found a solution to the problem (for me anyway).

I installed the latest DirextX, which is 8.0a.  AH appears to be working correctly now.

Maybe this will work for ya'll.

And yes Jochen, Direct X 8.0a comes in a version designed for Windows 2000.
