IL2 is uber.  turns on a spot, has some of the most powerful cannon in game, and is armoured like a tank.

IL2's are pretty tough but the funny thing is I was able to nail two LTARS in IL2's with the piddly little twin 50's of a fully loaded SBD...

Key I've found vs Il-2s, like bombers, is hit location. Spraying the fuselage doesn't have much value. However good burst to the wing...

Thats some impressive Il stats chaingun.  It'n nice to see another il2 enthusiast out there.  With few exceptions its the only plane i fly, usually in Jabo but often offesively too.  There is a deep satisfaction in shooting down a much nibler or faster fighter in an Il that I just don't get in antoher plane.  Like you I usually end my missions in a flaming mess, but I try to take as many with me as I can.  The only plane I find impossible to shake off is a slow moving la-7, so since my only chance to get my guns on them is usually a HO on the first pass I always take it.  Wonder what your opinion of HO in a IL-2 is?  In my view its the only legitimate tactic against the slow La-7. Also, do you set your guns out to max and try for the long shots or closer for obliterative power?  Nice to see somebody else using the Armored Sofa of the Sky.

wow IL-2 can really take the hits of 30mm,37mm,o and the other day i hit the IL-2 with a 40mm from the Hurri and nothing happend...

Interestingly, the fuselage "soft spot" that most LW pilots aimed for doesn't exist in the IL-2 in AH.
