Christmas eve night in the arena
« on: December 24, 2006, 11:08:05 PM »
The night effect that was brought in I thought was really good.

Not too dark but enough to change the game, add another challenge.....

Only problem was that the moon should be on the other side of the hills. Not between me and them.

Hey ridley,

The moon was originally modeled to be in the correct plane, behind the hills. But Silat complained to HiTech that is just wasn't romantic enough in the arena with it like that

I agree with you though, the moon should be in the right place or it ruins my immersion. :aok

I beg to differ.  You must have your gamma set at 2 or something.  I couldn't see the map, cons or anything else.  Bombing was impossible.  And I had the pleasure of losing three bombers to a con I never saw.  Some challenge.

If you cant see at night
YOUR monitor isnt set up correctly.
thats not intended as sarcasm but rather what the real deal is

Posted a link a while back on how to properly calibrate your monitor.

I know when I went there I thought I had mine set up pretty good.
And even mine was off and a set a bit too dark.

Im busy wrapping right now But when Im done I'll look for the thread I posed the link in and repost it

Oh, so the moon wasn't in the tower this year?  Sorry I missed it... But that was a little disconcerting last year when the moon was inside the tower windows...

Was not HT doing his usual Christmas present to the arena or is it that your quote is reversed. ;)

Merry Christmas all.  Thanks for another wonderful year of fun.

I flew within feet of him, but stupid me forgot to turn the gamma up. Do have a nice film of it before someone got on my six and shot me down

Dangit, I've been waiting three years to see this thing, each year forgetting about it right during the last couple days before Christmas. This year I thought it was to be done on Christmas day.

Humbug.

if you dont like the dark then turn your gamma up. i wish we could have he dark back. loved it when we had it. but to many people cryed about it and HT took it away. i am also happy that we have a test tube map of the Pizza Map it was nice to fight in the canyons again.

I was dead-sticking, oiled out, having glided a good 20 miles in a d9 on base leg about 1500 feet when the lights went out. that sucked, because it made me made a mistake and crash because i couldn't see the rwy!

overall though, it was interesting. I dont like how acks can still see you at night as well as they do in the day tho..
