Scotty, you can do wonderful things with a minimum of supplies. You NEED a knife, a flat file, sandpaper, at least 3 paint brushes, an eye dropper and paint thinner (or 2 paint thinners if you use both acryl and enamel). Don't go all out on an airbrush. I've done some brush-painted kits that look better than some airbrushed ones.

So, until you're sure you want to get back into it, don't fork over all the money. My 2c.

That is an awesome model. You should take some more pictures of it, without the glass tabletop and people standing around...  a sheet draped over a table and a couple of lights can make a world of difference.

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

It's a nice little kit SK,  It's even floor-less!  I use tamiya paints for the most part.  The only jets Ive done is a 262 and a Mig-15.

Just looking around the room, a quick estimate is about 40 -  95% WWII aircraft in 1/72, 1/48/ , and 1/32 scales.  Mind you, that's only the ones that are visible from where I'm sitting . . . what the wife can't see she can't hold against me when I find other "good deals!":D

I read both of those. It didnt mention too much. Is that a basic thing? Or custom? And what about landing gear? I didnt see that mentioned anywhere...

I built that same birdcage kit, GREAT model.

Right now I'm still working on Tamiya's 1A. I'm building her as the Vargas Cowgirl F4U I skinned. Also using aftermarket detail kits for the cockpit, engines and landing gear.

That reminds me, someone around here was supposed to get me pics of how the engine plumbing fed into the exhaust stacks on the fuselage. :P
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I have theyre 1-D kit that I built a good few years ago.Your rite they are Excellent kits!I believe they are still the standards by which all others are compared.I think mine is built as a VMF-512 plane. It has white checker board on the nose and tail.I had decals but they sucked.I ended up painting them on using 1/8th inch Tamiya tape.Came out alright. The only problem is it was one of the 1st I had built in some time. Its not dirty enough.Looks more like somehtin you would see in a museum.

This is going to be my first (serious) attempt at weathering a bird (you can see roughly how she'll look by checking out the skin version, under the thread Bent Wing Birds).
