Help! AH crashes on runway
« on: December 27, 2006, 12:02:38 AM »
Got a new pc today.  Downloaded AH and went offline.  Everything is groovy, even maxed out in fps for 1st time ever!  Then I went online.  Now, every time I click on a runway direction to take off, AH crashes and I get the ol' Microsoft error message. Help!

At first I was running hi-res textures with full detail sliders and still maxing out fps.  After the first few crashes, I dropped it to 512 tex. & half sliders.  Same effect.  AH still crashes when I go to the runway. Arrrgghh!!

you might have to dump the cache folder and deleate  your video8.cfg

other thing was this a clean install or a backed up/saved install ?? if the later you may need to turn the files off of read only.

edit ...custom sounds can do this too

If you have any custom sounds installed, then get rid of them and see if the problem goes away.

*note for Skuzzy*
The 1st time I downloaded AH for this new pc yesterday, I used the primary download link, and had all these problems.  After uninstalling, I used the alternate download link and now have no problems.  Just wanted to let ya know in case there is something corrupt in the primary link.  The primary link was only a 87 MB download and the alternate was 88 MB.  Did something just not come through?  Anyway, my problems are fixed.  Thank you all for your help.  Btw, Core 2 Duo rocks baby!:D
