P47-D40 man pressure mismatch
« on: December 29, 2006, 02:18:01 AM »
According to the E6B, the engine setting on the P47-D40 is:
52" - mil
64" - WEP

The gauges on the plane show only:
49" - mil
60" - WEP

For the rest of the jugs, the numbers in the E6B match the gauges.
Mosquito VI - twice the spitfire, four times the ENY.

What was your altitude at the time you check your gauges?
Time's fun when you're having flies.

Just took a D-40 up to 30k, and all the way the MAN never got over 49.

Sea level and a little above.
P47s are supposed to have constant man pressure up to 20k due to the super-charger. In any case it doesn't reach the E6B values.

I've noticed this as well.  49" is all I can turn.
