there's nothing wrong with leaving a fight when you are low on ammo or fuel, have damage or a pilot wound, or are just done with the fight. don't let other people get you mad so you will fight the way they want. its your 15 bucks. do what you want with it. of course, turning off ch200 for a while works too.

Seriously, running is NEVER an option, so don't try too hard to sell it under 'Smart Tactics' label, you'll be ridiculed to no end and you deserve it every little bit.

To turn would be suicide.....,

I'm not belittling your view so please do not take offense but....  I heartily disagree with you.  You are thinking turn fight.... which, if the pilots are relatively matched, yes you would more often lose than win.

Why turn fight?... you mention the 38.. a spectacular plane in the vertical... the Temp's great speed and good climb can create separation. separation = options.. opportunities.

I love dragging a plane, any plane, away from the pile... it's fun to reverse on them when they give up and break off.  I have gotten many kills this way.. my favorite being when they grab hard as they give up on you... immel and shoot them in the belly.  At the very least your aggression will put you on the initiative.

Lets first make the distinction between exiting and running.

Exiting implies that you're leaving the battle on your terms.

Running implies that you're a scared rabbit with a cougar on your fuzzy little tail.

If you have to run you were proabaly in too deep to begin with and this should give you a clue as to your capabilities in your next engagement.

Anyway, I LIKE runners when I'm 5-10K over them in my Spit XVI.  Nothing like the tase of fresh meat!
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

But I am glad that you showed one at higher alt and one at lower.  My reversal was an intended rolling scissors even tho my hog was not up to task there at the end!  I did get one shot at you and I'm guessing it was a PW.  Blukitty, who in my opinion is the absolute best at what you saw her do in your film, will use many more "tricks" to "dodge" or give the attacker a reason to stay where they are believing that a kill shot is just around the corner.  SHe hangs so close to the opponents crosshairs that it is hard for them not to stay in and eventually be in front of her! She actually gives you a couple of decent shots but keeps your pony so unstable that it would be hard for most players to settle the nose on her! Again excellent flying and thanks for showing some film of reversals to the folks that think running is an option.
I "run/drag" an opponent for however long it takes to get them one on one.  If that can't be achieved and there's two back there, I will try and roll them both.  But if it is just one back there, I always see it as my next kill and nothing more!  There are times that I would much rather be the one in front at the start than the one pouncing.  Lets say if Im in hog and I see a spit, I would much rather give them my six, dive for speed, and then roll them rather than meet them in a head-on merge and have to fight them with their strengths.  A hog turns circles around a spit at anything even close to 400mph!  Geesh, I have blabbed enuff!

"very much not true.
(an impressive film)
the only way to learn how is to bite the bullets and turn back and try."

Crumbs. You went through all that and almost got killed on the landing pad by a marauding LA7. Perhaps if the Typhoon/Tempest's radiator wasn't so vulnerable people would have more courage when flying them.

If you ask me, it's not running that's the problem.  It's choosing an airplane that can't do anything but run.  Everyone needs to run sometimes, but when you run all the time you're probably a terrible pilot, and you're definitely making the game un-fun for everyone else.

In AH, I found that sometimes you have to make a run for it, and I see nothing wrong with this.  Personally, I like the fly the tempest, cause it's so fast and hard hitting.  I especially like to think I can get out of trouple even faster than I get myself into it.

This of course comes with the taunts from the guy(s) chasing me, telling me I'm a scardie cat (or worse) and should turn and fight.  I especially like it when say a turn plane (spit) is chasing me about 1k behind when I'm in a typhy or 38.  (This is spit that has come in with a 2k advantage, new to the fight and you seen just soon enough to start hauling *** away from him)

To turn would be suicide, no way I am going to out turn fight him even with equal E and position, no way I'm going to surprise him either.  Anything but to keep running would be folly, but you continue to hear the channel 200 crap talking about it.

Anyway, I find it absurd when someone has complete advantage, that they would talk crap about you not commiting suicide and giving them an easy kill.

Sorry, bro.... I have no sympathy for you. And if you show me your tempest tail and run from my spit9, you will hear about it on 200. I may not even be a mediocre pilot, but at least I'll fight.

Another group that will hear me on 200 are the ack-huggers, but I can see that as a valid tactic. Most of the crap I type to them is just that, crap.

But if you're in an uber plane and running from a plane with an ENY of 20, then you deserve whatever scorn gets heaped on you. If you're so afraid to wreak your pretty plane, then don't up it.

All I'm reading from you is that you want easy kills.

Coward.

Will if said ueber plane is damaged, low on ammo or low on fuel then flying home is verry valid in my opinion. Also when you have not only a spit9 but a horde of enemys on your tail it is not that easy, i might have a slim chance against one enemy plane but as soon as i have to fight 2 or more i am dead meat.

Alot of times i hear " why your run from MY plane xx" while there are also 3 others right behind him and it would have been 4 against one. What do i do? i run home. Might be cowardish to some, but i prefer not to get slaughterd that is less frustration for me.

I don't mind people who run, but the runners who bug me are the ones who run from a 1v1 fight on equal footing.

I chased a Lala for about 3 minutes towards his own base, he had more E and we were co-alt. Well he was about 1.5k out and about a minute from his base, I was low on fuel and ammo so I went to go back home and as soon as I did that he turned and started to come back around on me. This irked me so much that I just went nose down right into the water, denying him of a kill, and reupped.
