Video settings. and... Video Cards

At some point I remember someone saying that setting your display to 1024 X 768 actually gave you an increase in FRs. I did this on my system and found it to be true.. but not by much.
Now I just read a post by fradim about comparing framerates of 1.04 to 1.05.. anyway.. I see that the lower resolutions are actually giving better FRs.. Is this true? so, will I get better FRs at 800 X 600??

also. .. any recommendations for a video card if I am to go out and buy one now.... under $150??

current system.....
AMD K6 450 196M ram... Voodoo 2 3000 AGP..
everything runs fine for me now, maybe a little slow during "busy" times..

THanks

Your current processor is your bottleneck Red, a new vid card won't help you much I'm afraid.  There is quite abit more potential with the vid card you have now, its just your cpu is not able to push it.
