Connection problems to AH server
« on: March 18, 2001, 06:50:00 AM »
HTC,

Since 2 weeks I expierence problems with logging in to AH, and once logged in I lose host connection many times.

I checked my net status and found out that my netvariance fluctuates between -0.5 and 0.5. 2 weeks ago I had flatlines on both graphs.

I'm running AH on the following configuration:

AMD Athlon 1 GHz
Geforce 2 GTS pro 64 Mb
256 Mb SDRAM
40 Gb HD
SB Live Value
ISDN card connecting to the NET 64k Bd

I checked my connection to the server of my internet provider and there was no problem on that side, I can use the full 64k bandwidth.

I found out that my connection to this bullitin board is much slower than before too, it takes me one min to load the page!

Can you tell me what is wrong??

Same problem today, getting Host time out error everytime I try to log in.

Did a connection speed check with one of those connection speed check sites, and it came out with : 58400 bps.

Does anybody know of a program to check internet connection speed and looking at the nodes as well?

Sure do.  www.pingplotter.com

Trace both beta.hitechcreations.com and alt.hitechcreations.com.

You should post the results in the Internet Connectivity forum.  You will get a better response in there, and from folks that may be able to help.

I couldn't log on yesterday <Saturday> most of the day. My ping showed great times untill they tried to reach HTC's server....I got 90% time outs and the other 10% of the pings showed HTC ping times at 600+ms. I was baffeled because when I was able to log on <twice in 8 hours> there was 200+ people in the MA. Must have been a left coast thang <shrugs>

Thx, for the advise Lephturn, very usefull info on your site. I've downloaded the ping plotter program and will use it next time I've got con problems. At the moment my con to AH standard server is good.
