The short answer is yes.

The trick is wheather or not you can still do it in the TE. You might have to use the OE but I don't remember planes showing in the list of objects the last time I looked, in the OE. You will need prior experience with the TE which I won't go into.

If you can't see the plane you want in the TE object list, comment it out in the shpfilter.txt file.

Then place the plane at the field.  Play with the elevation until you get the main gear at about the right height, a bit high at this point is best.

Save your work and find your plane in the .oba file. Open the .oba file in a text editor (or spreadsheet) and find the line with your plane. There are several fields which contain the x,y coordinates, height, horizontal rotation and vertical angle etc. You'll need to find and play with the vertical angle until you have all three wheels at about the same distance off the ground, then just lower the plane in the TE until the wheels touch.

Have fun, and if you can, post a screen shot when you're done. :)

A film you said...

For another nice touch, place a spawn point at ground level under the plane and make it a fuel bunker.  Make the plane indestructable.  When you bomb or straff the plane, the spawn point will burst into flames...  There are no dead shapes for these TE planes so it's not too effective without leaving the planes in the fire.

ok i figured how to position planes so they show but i am struggling to get all 3 wheels on the ground.i opend up the file and this is what i got
F01VOD000,    spit16,     15800.506,         8.000,     22131.018, 0.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000,      3328,    0,    0,   -1.00,    -1.0,        -1,   0,    0,    0,    0,    0

now any ideas which one i ned to adjust the angle so all 3 wheels touch would be helpful

ok figured it out
to get a plane with its wheels on the tarmac sitting level had to change too of the midle sets of numbers.
F01VOD000,     spit8,     15900.487,         5.000,     21182.138,59.7000,72.0000, 0.0000,      3328,    0,    0,   -1.00,    -1.0,        -1,   0,    0,    0,    0,   -1

this now gets the planes at the right angle, all i need to do is figure what easy core ment about highlighting the plane to use in the other file?

Oh, one other thing, the angle and height will depend on the plane so remember to check it in game for each plane.

Edit: And the rotation, pitch and roll are in radians. Ah, heck, I can remember for sure. :o
