I have got a Hercules 3D Prophet 2 GTS 64mb graphic card, and I am getting some flickering on screen when flying AH, I am using Hercules oem version 6.35 drivers. What is the best driver for this card and will it stop the flickering?

Running:
Windows ME
DX8
AMD 900mhz

Cheers

You might want to try the 6.50 detonator drivers and be sure to set the D3D Mipmapping to "High quality".  It defaults to "Best image".
Hope this helps.

Not exactly disagreeing Skurj but....

I always thought disabling "vsync" was a definate no no in online games such as AH. If I disable vsync my frame rate goes up by 5 or 6 but I thought the way AH worked meant that if you did not see the hit on your FE (It may be in one of the "skipped" frames) you did not get the hit. I definatly noticed the "Rubber Bullet" syndrome when I tried it in the dim & distant past.

Can someone clarify that?

Thanks

I have a short answer, but I have written up a more detailed one here:  http://www.benchdata.com/hints/vsync.html

If that does not answer it, then let me know.

Thanks Skuzzy,
I think that answers my question, Disabling vsync helps my FR a lot. I run an old Hitachi 21" monitor at 60htz. I get 60fps almost always (except in smoke). I don't notice any "flicker" so I think I will leave vsynce enabled. (If any of my bullets hit the target I need to know about it).

Yeah snafu, its been recommended to have vsync on in AH, however i don't seem to have much choice at the moment.

RJG, I just installed the same video card you installed and did what skuzzy suggested, worked like a charm.  Just change to high image.  LOL skuzzy cleared that one up for me a few days ago.
