The fan might run even if the power connector isn't plugged in, since the pci-e slot also provides power.
There needs to be a cable running from the power supply to the top or back edge of the video card or it will not work, even if the fan is already running.
Actually Eagle you were on the money the first time. I spoke with him this morning, and apparently my email saying 12v to him got an affirmative even though he er... didnt know what the 12v thingy was.
So this morning he call, had talked to BFG support, and I say "so you got that 12v power plugged in???" and he says " Yah, I got the power cord run to the board", and I said "but do you have the 12v power run" and he says "12v.....whats that?"
Anyway many chuckles later, I think we found the problem...humanoid in nature.
So for further edification, if the video card power is plugged in, the fan on the video card will run, but apparently it takes the board juice to work properly.
