Unfortunatley, with the martyr thingy, the old mutually assured destruction may not work here. Any way, Russia would not like having Iran nuked for the fallout would spoil a great part of thier country. THere is no use for nukes anymore, other than to bring about the end of civilization.

from what i understand the political dynamics in iran have changed since the last local elections were held back in dec.

the first opportunity at hand iranians voted in reformers and moderates. showing their displeasure with the president's abrasive foreign policies and lack of economic reform.

while the conservatives are fighting among themselves the reformers and moderates are trying to redefine their political platforms.

pretty funny tho...if you know what i mean.

Amadmanjihad is still the Iranian president no? Does he have the authority to send Iran's military to "wipe Israel from the face of the map" as he has promised? If he does I think Israel should be very afraid so long as this mad man is in power.

I don't think the terrriosts would be stupid enough to risk detonating one atomic bomb in the US, we would still be able to retaliate. If any plot is attempted it will most likely included multiple targets. 9/11 they tried coordinating multiple attacks in one day. Even the last plot busted up by the UK was going to target multiple jets. I would not want to live in any major city that is important to US economic growth.

I believe there are terrorist groups that want a world wide "holy war" with the infidels and would detonate a nuke in the US in a second if they could. Retaliation is exactly what they want. I think they'll get their wish eventually.

The solution to this is to promise the Muslims that at the first terroristic attack against the free world, the holy muslim sights will be lit up by nuclear weapons from medium importance all the way to mecca.

But of course, no one has the balls to do it.

I think it's funny that Iran really believes they can take Israel. Israel has hundreds of deployable nuclear weapons, not just one or two bulky test bombs & a handful of plans in a bread box.

The ability to produce a nuclear weapon doesn't help you when you have weapons that are already produced, armed & falling on you.

Agreed. Problem seems to me that these muslim fanatics, and all muslims that quietly sit by watching this fiasco with an almost perceptible nod of agreement, seem to welcome death or at the least aren't afraid of dying, so why wait until they build nuclear arsenals to destroy us with?
