The Fw-A8 gun pack with 30mm firing all cannons vs Panzer Or il2 firing at same target which is better and why. I seem to have more success with A8

Il-2 is much better. The Il2 23mms fire AP rounds, while the A8 30mms are HE. The Mk108 was designed for anti-bomber duty. The 23mm has a better punch vs armor, a much better trajectory and the Il-2 carries much more ammo for it than the A8 carries 30mm rounds.

The 190 A8 30mm shouldn't dammage a panzer at all, part from ripping off anything that is outside (like the MG for example).

All you are going to do is track it.

You get the kill because you hit it more.

The poor slob that ups a Hurri d or the IL2 penetrates the armor and poof.

You get the kill because you stacked the damage on it.

The gv damage model is funny that way.

You donīt even need to track a gv to get the kill.
Just strafe it with a lot of lead. If a friendly tank finally manages to kill the enemy tank, you will still get the kill, even if you did no visible damage to it.

Not unless he towers out.

If you put ONE .303 round on a gv and he towers with you in range.
You get the kill

What I'm getting at is the way GV damage model works. You have to penetrate armor before you can kill it.
However HE damage is tabulated until  that point is reached.

Classic example is 110Gs shooting up GV raids.  They shoot every gv they see.

Then once someone else bombs or shoots the GVs  with AP. The 110 driver collects his EZ kills.

The only AC with AP rounds are the hurri d and the IL2.

LOL!

I am :)

Started flying again yeasterday (sunday). Took a few quick sorties with spikey pedals...

Good news is I fixed the pedals today, no more spiking what so ever, first time I every fly with pedals that don't spike so now I might be dangerous :-)

I have never had any luck at all w/ the Hurricane D guns.  I even hit tanks from the rear with it, no luck killing/damaging anything.  Hurricane D is useless.  I have tried and tried to kill pz-4's and t-34's with it, no luck at all.  My 2 cents

I've never destroyed T-34's with IL-2 or Hurri2D guns. It seems the T-34 is extremely resilient against field guns or aircraft guns. I've seen Tigers and Panzers get damaged by concentrated 37mm fire from field guns, and get detracked or engine dead due to aircraft fire, but I've personally never seen the T-34 suffer such damage..  man, the Soviets made a hardy tank.

However, when it comes to Panzers I've destroyed quite a lot of them with Hurri2Ds.

There seems to be two key methods to killing Panzers:

One of them is diving down at the Panzer at a steep angle and going for the rooftop. I admit I'm not very good at that. It takes good flying skills and gunnery to hit such a small moving target at such steep angles.

The second method is much easier, but also has more danger of being intercepted by enemy AA fire, especially if the target tank is escorted by Osties or M16s. Approach the Panzer, fly very low, almost parallel to the ground, and let out 3~4 sets of 40mm fire to the rear of the Panzer. The target zone is usually the engine quarters and the point where the chassis meets the turret. If the multiple barrage of 40mms connect at a single spot it will explode the Panzer with a single pass.

Killing Panzers with the Hurri2D isn't all that hard. I think the hardest part of tank strafing is actually coping with the extremely angled terrain of AH2. There's never a flat plain when tanks approach the town.

Yep :)  Plus try to fire at your 40mm conv range.  If you can get those hit sprites to overlap....BOOM :)

I have also noticed the T34 is pretty hardy vs the 190F8 rockets...usually can kill tigers with those things...but the T34's just seem to shrug them off and keep driving.
