U.S. attacks targets in Somalia

USAAF AC-130 hit some targets in Somalia, reportedly a training camp and muster area for Islamic radicals and al-Queda forces.

Supposedly the main targets were the terrorists that were responsible for the U.S. embassy bombings a few years ago.

There also have been some reports that the foreign Arab fighters that were in Afghanistan have left to start up training camps in Somalia.

Maybe the Ethiopians asked for help from us.  It really doesn't matter
that much to me...results are what matter in the end.

AQ has called on a jihad because the coptic christian led ethiopian army has invaded somalia.  we need to settle an old score with the habr gedr clan in somalia anyways.  two good reasons to glass parking lot the shi'ite hole.  a few AC130s is far from enough but it's a start.

UN peacekeepers due there in late JAN.  that will be interestiing.   meanwhile, a coalition of Ethiopia, US, the Somalia govt, and reportedly, Uganda will try to keep Islamists running.   but since there are allegedly 3500 extremists who have taken off their uniforms still in Mogadishu, this won't be over soon.  the UN, if they actually show up, will be taking casualties.   i wonder how long they will stay

in fact, i wonder how long WE will stay there helping the Somalies govt, with US Dems in an anti war mode...

upcoming elections will be very interesting,  maybe a deciding point for the country to finally wholly accept that there really is a war on terror that we can't disengage from.  hope so.
