The best answer your probably going to get is to send the film to Skuzzy... they can see more in films that we do.
As for explanations: Id still bet it was lag. The trick with the internet (and connections) is that they are in no way a constant thing... means: you can have a perfectly steady ping/connect, then suddenly traffic for whatever reason - warp - and are back to your steady, stable connect the next second. Pingplotter would only show severe problems for a lengthy amount of time. Also, you said that others saw themn "warp" as well? That would be indicating that the warp was on THEIR end, not yours.
If it was a one time thing, id just chalk it up to computer/net weirdness and forget about it.
If it is something that is repeatable, over the same spot in the terrain.. then you might be onto something.
