Problems with the FSO mail utility
« on: January 09, 2007, 02:21:42 AM »
All:

During the last frame I had a big problem with the FSO mail utility.  From reading some of the comments in the other threads it seems to be happening again.

The problem was so bad last frame it delayed the issue of the AXIS Op Ord for nearly 18 hours.  At that point I gave up and sent them out manually from my home e-mail address.

FYI I checked my file sizes and they conformed to the limited requirements of the FSO utility.  I know that the CM's are not responsible for this :noid  :lol  :lol

I was just wondering if this was happening to other CIC's and if so AHII needs to take a look at this.

Problems with the FSO mail utility

Everything on the ahevents.org site is the responsibility of the CM team.  I am the primary builder and maintainer of the site.  I am aware of the issues with the mail program.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to spend recoding it this month.

My short term fix will be to have a "mailto:..." link once you've provided your password.  This way any ISP events at the site we host ahevents.org at won't cause the FSO orders to be delayed.  It will be each CiC's ISP that will be the problem.

Eventually I'd like to build an environment where the CiCs will either write their orders within the confines of the site or upload a PDF / Word document and then the other COs would go to the ahevents.org site to pick up the orders.  Of course this would be password protected and the FSO CM would provide each side with the password for that event.

But as I stated above I'm a bit busy with my work and family obligations this month.  The time I spend on AHevents.org this month is going to be related to security fixes and some URL enhancements.
