Install Error
« on: January 08, 2007, 10:13:33 PM »
Hi Skuzzy -

Many months ago on this PC I emailed you regarding an error I got when trying to open the film viewer.  All other aspects of the game worked fine, I just couldn't play back any recordings.  You analyzed my data and noted that I evidently had a non-compatible chipset - I'm not technical, but if I had to guess it would be a shared memory issue.

For some time I have been playing on a separate PC.  Tonight that one died, so I switched back to the original one I played on, the one on which I could not play back films but all else worked.  Since it had been some time I had to download the most recent versions, etc, which took some time.  When that was done, I was taken to the install process since my last version was out of date.  I went to the install wizard, went through those steps, then got the following error message:  "C:\PROGRA~1\HTC\ACESHI~1\AHFILM.EXE" Could Not Be Opened".  Again, obviously something to do with the AH film player.  When I try to reinstall, I am in a loop, with the same error message over and over.  No joy.

Thoughts?

Make sure the film viewer is not marked as read-only.  Or, completely remove the installation of Aces High II, including physically removing the HTC folder, and do a fresh installation.

Thanks Skuzzy, that fixed the install issue - deleting and reinstalling.

Now, however, I am bouncing all over the sky.  The controls appear hyper-sensitive, were never like that before.  Suggestions?

Make sure your JS is calibrated in windows. Then check the mappping in game and recalibrate it there as well.

Interesting.....Since I never had to recalibrate my joystick before, regardless of which of three PCs I played on, I logged off and logged back in, problem solved.  Weird.

Schatzi, please see your email, and thanks.
