Forget what they say, fly what you want to fly and have fun.

In my opinion, the Yak is the plane to fly if you want to get lots of perk points.  It is light and fast, and turns well.  The only problem is it doesn't have much armament, so you really need to get to within 200 b/f you start firing.

It has great visibility with the bubble canopy, and has the 'oh crap' bars in the front to hold onto..hehe.

Even with that though, you'll hear the dweeb calling for flying an 'overmodelled' airplane.

If you re-arm and land about 7 kills in a yak you know your the man....good luck.

btw, the zero is a zeek

Coshy

My recomendations are if you are looking to try a not so high end fighter to up a :

C205 - fast, turn rate not bad, armament good -visibility limited
BF109K14  fast, turn rate not bad, armament good -visibility limited
La5 - fast, turn rate not bad, armament kind of sucks - visibility good
Spit V or IX - well, they are just slower spits

But don't worry about being called a dweeb.  If you are a called a dweeb it means you've ticked off somebody who is flying one of the above mentioned aircraft by shooting them down while you are in your LA7 or Spit XVI.  No one ever complains about being shot down while flying the "dweeb" rides.  Funny how that works.

Either way, let them call you a dweeb.

What he is saying, is that the game allows you to play as you like, and therefore you should.  Short of being disrespectful to the other people playing, you can attack what you want, how you want, while driving the plane of your choice.  Nobody in this game has purchased the right to tell you what to do for 15 bucks a month.

Regardless what you think you learned from his post above, he is not a habitual vulture or HO.  But will do whatever is needed to complete the mission or the flight.  We all (every one of us in AH - so don't feed me any bull) vulch with great enthusiasm during a base capture.  And we all know how to avoid it.   I have NEVER ONCE taken down the ack at a base and heard someone on range go "Ok, but don't vulch them, because thats bad karma"... The typical response is more like "Sweet, the 'vulch light' is on, keep them from getting up while the goon gets in...  Oh, one is running out of the hanger, GET HIM"

Lets stop prolonging the myth that there is this overwhelming chivalry in AH.  Once in a while, you'll get a great dogfight with a skilled opponent one on one...  But a lot of fights are 3 on 1 nasty furballs where you are just trying to get out with your skin... And in that scenario, you me and everyone else have the same rules... If it gets in my crosshair, I'm going to shoot which ever end of it is pointed at me, because I've got 2 more to deal with and no help in sight, and they can call me an HO dweeb on 200 all they want...  I'm not gonna lay down and die.

You may be correct, I may have misunderstood everything that he was trying to say.  If that is the case, please accept my humblest appologies.  I never meant to imply that he's not a good pilot, nor a good guy.  Maybe I wan't clear in my previous post.  I think that it can be stated pretty simply.  I don't think that it is a good lesson to be trying to teach those that are relatively new, and coming here for knowledge.  Everyone whines about the "newbs" vulching, or HO'ing, and then post things like this.  That post makes it seem like it's ok to put in cheap shots, and fight like a coward.  THIS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN THE INTENT OF THE POST, but at first read, that's what I took from it, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.   It's not difficult to misconstrue a statement like that, so just be careful what you say.

No ill intentions or implications meant by my post.

a big to Gaiden and Kurt!

Coshy, as many said, fly what you want. As Grits, I can suggest you to try the Ki84: it's trickier than a Spixteen, but it's a great plane, the best dogfighter in the whole set, IMHO.

And remember, you'll have to die a lot to learn, but eventually you will. Find someone who can help you (you'll find plenty of people wanting to help, I suggest you ask Schatzi, but don't fly a Hurri I if she tells you to do so - and she will.... :D -), read everything you can (check the links in my signature), and fly, fly, fly.... you'll learn how to fight and you'll possibly do that having fun at the same time. ;)

Btw, the Spitfire is not dweeb, most of its pilots are! :furious

You might also consider avoiding Cartoon Network as it may give you an unhealthy dependence on Crapanese animation... Or, Crapanimation as some call it. Generally speaking if your intake of television is more than 50% animation of any kind, you're probably a dweeb.

And I know, because I'm not just a 'Dweeb' club member, I'm also the president.

I haven't spoken to Gaidin this morning directly, but I'm quite certain he wasn't trying to support cheap shots... I think more likely he assumed (as I often do) that most people in here are fully aware that just about any shot you take can be viewed as a cheap shot by the guy on the recieving end.

Anyhow, I didn't think there was any ill intent on your part Hel, I just saw it was clear that you misunderstood him, so I felt the need to restate and reword.

All of the above not withstanding, if some dweeb does come along and think its worth 15 bucks a month to take cheap shots, more power to him, its his money... But I can assure you that you won't find that person in my roster :aok

Just my 2 cents....

Ignore the ***** talk some will post on the BBS

Tune out 200

Learn to use the squelch command

Bug Murdr and the other trainers....Murdr taught me alot in about 30 mins in the TA.

The Niki is my favorite ride, got speed, can turn, and cannons /w booKu ammo

above all, have fun, and make friends. Don't be scared to ask "stupid" questions....The only "stupid" questions are the ones that don't get asked.

and look me up if you ever need a question answered. If I don't know right off the answer, there are a zillion players we can ask.

This is going to be a problem ... I cannot live without the Sci-Fi channel. I just cant. If I dont get a regular infusion of Battlestar Galactica and SG-1 I go into a catatonic state. It ain't pretty.

Hehe Killnu

I like the Ki84 next to the Spit16 , it's a bit harder to fly but gets you a TON of perk pts :)

3/4 fuel is plenty , bring bombs also is you want . Watch dives over 480 as you can have elev problems :P At the right turn speed it "skyrocks" Spits :)

cheers
