Perhaps it's because they see the U.S. government as being hypocritical.  Claiming the moral ground while expressly going against the Declaration and Constitution.

I believe the Declaration of Independence states:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
While not strictly law, it does indicate the moral standing of our forefathers.

I believe the Constitution also guarantees the right to a fair and speedy trial.

If we no longer believe in these, then fine, throw out both documents and have at it.  But don't claim moral superiority while your down in the mud.

Of course many injustices have been done in the past like the treatment of the Native Americans and the U.S. citizens of Japanese decent during WWII.  There will be plenty more I'm sure.

Injustice happens all the time, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored.
Do not attribute to malice what can be easily explained by incompetence, fear, ignorance or stupidity, because there are millions more garden variety idiots walking around in the world than there are blackhearted Machiavellis.

Right, but let me put it this way...

If a house was on fire, and so was your shrub, which would you concentrate on putting out first?

N. Korea is the house.

Gitmo is the shrub.

The cynical side of me thinks it's odd that the government's actions
only seem to be hypocritical when republicans are in power.  The Demos
have the edge now, where's the screaming about your beloved enemies
in Gitmo now?

North Korea doesn't claim that everyone has certain unalienable Rights.  Nor do the claim that everyone has a right to a fair and speedy trial.  

Yes, their government does great evil and should be held accountable.  But at least they don't claim the moral high ground.

They are already a lost cause, but there is still hope for the U.S.  That's the difference.

They think they have a better shot going against the US, which is probably correct, so that's what they do.

But, protesting America is a waste of time and effort that should be used against N. Korea and other places.  Just because it's "hard" doesn't mean it doesn't need to get done.

Basically, by protesting America over these other nations, you're just making it more difficult for one of the only countries on earth that's willing to at least try something hard.

You have to give America that.  We're actually trying.  And for whatever history books we forgot when it came to the middle east, we've certainly remembered the lessons learned at the Munich Conference very well.

I'm not really sure Europe remembers that lesson...  But, if I had to make an educated guess, Europe will realize that they don't have a choice soon enough.  Within 10 years your armies will be marching side by side our armies, trying to battle back the masses of the "peaceful religion" who are swarming onto your continent.

Mhm... Well that is just plain wrong. Plenty of nations are doing something "hard" around the world.

The US is just one of them.

Yes...  But we both know what "hard" task I'm talking about, and the list gets shorter and shorter as you increase the contribution.

Im guessing you talk about Iraq. In that conflict the US for sure is doing most of the hard tasks along with GB.
