This is an attempt at a reasonable discussion.
Since the beta started I have been Flying Rook. The other night, after flying Rook for awhile, I noticed that we were loosing, even though we had superior numbers. The Bishops, had lower numbers, and the Knights had the lowest numbers.
The Bishops and Knights were fighting each other, as well as the Rooks.
The Bishops were rapidly capturing fields, and not loosing territory. The Knights had several Rook Fields.
The Rooks were down to two of their fields and one Knight Field.
I Tried to Hold that last Knight field, but the Bishops, came in force, and took it from me. I killed Three C-47s before the Vultch got tight enough to keep me grounded.
At the same time F13 (The Field I was at) Another Rook Field was being attacked, and there was one defender there, and he was calling for help also.
Neither he nor I recieved any assistance from other Rooks to Hold the fields, even though, Rooks had the larger numbers.
So, I think to myself, here we are, with the larger numbers, incapable of capturing fields, and loosing those we have.
I flew a few more sorties, and logged.
When I relogged later, I Changed to the Bishop Team.
Now the Bishops are not that much better organized than the Rooks from what I have seen so far. There were some guys that wanted to fly wing, bombers who wanted escorts, organized bomber missions, Etc, things that you rarely see the Rooks doing.
Now the crux of the matter.
Last Night I escorted a B-26 to bomb a field.
I was in a 1C and I dove to kill a climbing Spit. The B-26 Made several passes at the Field, and was accosted by a Machi that I couldn't climb up to get in time. The B-26 Killed the Machi. Eventually after a nice vultch I was low on fuel and turned for a Friendly Field. The Field I was flying from was under contention, but pretty well vultched.
I throttled back to conserve fuel, and started climbing away.
A P-51 appeared at the distance, I went into a shallow dive, and started calling for help. I announced my coordinates, said I was low and dragging, yet for the five minutes or more, I was trying to FLEE, no one came to help.
I know that I am stupid, cause I have a sense of Honor, that commands me to try and clear the six of any team members I see that are in trouble.
I know that I give alot more six calls than I get.
I know that I try to use Historical Tactics, Manuvers, and Evasives.
I don't game the game.
I feel lonely.
Why is it the majority of the Folks Flying don't like to wing, clear, call?
I guess I will give the Knights a try next.
(Death Before Dishonor refers to the fact that I often make the clear, but get bounced when I am low and slow after makeing the clear, hence I get killed alot clearing other peoples six.)
