If you ask questions, wrag, then you're letting the terrorists win.

Well, that appears to be the historic consensus around here, anyhow.

Here is something new as well??????????????

"According to a recent alert from a group called Citizens for Legitimate Government, the Senate just granted passage to a Bill that establishes a new government agency called the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). This law expands the U.S. government's power to test drugs - most likely vaccines - on the citizenry.

Under the legislation which will no doubt soon breathe life into this BARDA monster (called the Pandemic and All-hazards Preparedness Act), all that has to happen for your right to informed consent to swirl down the toilet of corrupt political morass is this: The Department of Homeland Security must declare a public health emergency...

Once that happens - are you ready for this - Big Brother's new jack-booted drug thugs will be able to QUARANTINE AND FORCE EXPERIMENTAL MEDICATION on anyone they want. What's worse is that under the law, anyone injured by these drugs or vaccines would have no legal recourse in civil courts.

The House is set to vote on this invasive measure imminently."

Anyone want to trace this info down?

We read one mans intrepretation of a bill and suddenly we are afraid the constitution will be suspended?  One man's opinion and the sky is falling?

I would rather be able to read the bill itself, then decide for myself

so anybody got a link for the bill?

Ok, let me try this.

There is a massive virul outbreak due to a terrorist coming up with a biological weapon designed to wipe us out.

This is unleashed on a town.  Town is either:

1) Quarrantined while a cure is quickly looked for before the thing can spread.

2) Protected by the Constitution and allowed to go to the next town and shop at walmart because Their right to live and spread the toxin over rides our right to live un-infected.

Now, which one are you supporting?

Nothing clever here.  Please, move along.

Sensationalism at its best.

I say they oughta lock us all in our homes and only allow us out in small groups, escorted of course, with armed militia.

And we should not be allowed to drive.  As a matter of fact, they should confiscate all cars, trucks, guns, slingshots, bow/arrows, ammo, wheel barrows, roller skates, anything with a wheel on it, or anything that could be used as a weapon.

Once all that is done, they should tattoo our social security numbers on our foreheads.

Newspapers should not be allowed.  The Internet should be shut down.  Televisions should only show what the government wants us to see.  We should get small rations of food and our homes should be subject to allowing anyone from the government to use them without asking.

Yes, yes, we need to acknowledge those in power are there to save us all and we have no right to question them.  We should blindly support them.  They are only there to help us all.
------

Now, once all that is done, maybe,...just maybe we will all have enough gumption to get off our collective butts and do something about it.

Once you have nothing to lose, you have everything to gain.

link for HR 1,  there are two versions

Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act of 2007 (Introduced in House)
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:1:./temp/~c110NwfBKh::

Implementing the 9/11 Commission Recommendations Act of 2007 (Engrossed as Agreed to or Passed by House)
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/D?c110:2:./temp/~c110NwfBKh::

I'm not saying this is right or wrong, I'm just saying that before everybody starts running around like Chicken Little read the bill, ask intelligent questions

Edit: the links have expired, apparently the searches are kept. You have to redo the search

Yea? wait till you try to read all that.  What load of crap... over half this stuff is rules and guidelines for handing out grants and appropriations, who to hire, reports and studies, etc.

I think everyone of those Senators and Congressman should be fired and replaced because there is no way they all read this entire bill.  This is micromanagement at its finest

What really is the difference between mandating that we wear seatbelts in our cars and just having roadblocks to search our cars?    It's all for our own good right?

Melodrama, or accurately reading between the lines?
