Saitek Profile Editor Hanging System
« on: January 14, 2007, 01:12:03 PM »
I used my Saitek X45 stick with MS FS2004 with no problem until I installed Aces High.  Now, when I try to create a joystick profile for Aces High, my profile editor makes my system hang until I restart the CPU.  Anyone else have this problem?

I've had no problems with the Saitek software but some others have.  I suggest you go to the Saitek website and download the latest SST software from there, that might fix the problem.  Remember to uninstall the old SST first.  Hope that helps.

I'm not sure when your system is locking up but I have an X-52 and am using the SST software and the only time I have trouble is when I start Aces High PRIOR to selecting my stick profile...for example launch AH, realize I for got to select my profile, minimize AH, select profile, SST then locks up until I quit AH....

Solution - select profile before launching the AH app.

I think that might be the solution.  I'll try it.  Thanks.

Another problem with the profile editor:  After it hangs and I restart the computer, opening the profile I made for AH makes the computer hang again, even though I haven't even started AH.

Hmmm...

I'd uninstall the SST software ( back up your profiles first) download the latest version, or at least ensure that you have the latest version and reinstall...

Checking your drivers couldn't hurt either...might as well check them all while you're at it...

My drivers and software for the Saitek are the latest version.  I've reinstalled more than once and that hasn't fixed it.

Have you tried forgoing the SST software completely?

I admit im not sure if that works, since youre using the stick for more then one game, but I actually do not see where it should cause problems. I programmed my X45 entirely in AHII - i never installed the Saitek software that came with it.

Something is making the application hang - it's just a matter of finding out what...

Has anything else changed on your machine? Is there ANY possibility of Spyware/Malware or virus?

Have you installed any windows updates lately ( I only ask because the last time I did they messed up my sound card - had to download from the manufacturer and reinstall the driver for my card)

Remember it may not have been something you did/installed/deleted/updated etc. The problem here is that your game/software wont work correctly and you are stuck with fixing the issue...

I'd start by running your Anti Virus app with the latest definitions, and checking for spyware/malware with that proggy's latest updates/definitions...
