I'll continue to disagree.  San Diego is the best team in the NFL bar none.  I'm not a Charger fan, never have been.  I've felt that the Bolts are the best for several weeks now and haven't seen anything that make me think differently.  The best team doesn't always win the game.  Surely you've seen enough football to figure that one out.  The only thing that the Pats had over San Diego is exotic defensive schemes.

You can honestly put the homer hat away and say that the pats are the cream of the AFC field?  Hmmmm...  And Indy?  Hmmmm.....  At least the media has their Manning vs. Brady matchup to talk about all week.    Haven't heard enough about that one....

No, they will be watching the SB

You saw yesterday

The best team doesn't always win the game.

lol! You are Kordell Stewart

Surely you've seen enough football to figure that one out.

Obviously, you have not.

The only thing that the Pats had over San Diego is exotic defensive schemes.

yeah, besides a better QB, better coaching staff, better defensive schemes, better offensive schemes, more clutch players who remain cool under pressure, I can't figure out how in the world they could have won!

You can honestly put the homer hat away and say that the pats are the cream of the AFC field?

Well, lets see. Three Superbowls in five years, a 12-4 record this year, best QB in the NFL, best coaching staff in the NFL. Yeah, I guess that makes the choking Chargers the cream of the field huh?

I think your homer hat fell over your eyes and is blinding you.

Both teams tried desperately to lose that game. But the Chargers preservered and showed the kind of ineptitude required for such a timeless meltdown.

As for you Rip; Let me get this straight... If you think Rivers is a decent to excellent QB, you are wrong because "he's only had one year." But if you think that Rivers is "No Superbowl QB", one year is sufficient to make the determination? Makes sense to me, after all most Superbowl wining QBs showed a lot more in their first years as starters.

Hurts, doesn't it?

nice pass by Rivers to Pats #59 late in the game...a SB caliber QB doesn't usually make those mistakes...Rivers did, and now he's watching the game like you and I.

I also remember 2 TD passes. And I remember his trademark clutch throws on the final drive to win the game

Look, it's popular to say the Chargers have better players, but I can't agree with that.

Take Shawne Merriman vs Mike Vrabel. Now on the face of it, you would take Merriman hands down wouldn't you? And alot of people would, except maybe the Patriots. And that's because they do a good job of evaluating the intangibles.

Versatility, Vrabel can play any of the LB positions in the 4-3 or 3-4, knowing all the coverage responsibilties of a very complex defense that changes week to week. Can line up as TE, has 8 receptions, all for TD's, I believe he has never dropped a pass.

Is clutch, has always come up with a big play in clutch situations. Even back when he was with the Steelers, he stripped Drew Bledsoe in the final seconds to seal a 7-6 playoff victory. Put the pressure on Kurt Warner, leading to an errant pass and a Ty Law pick for a TD in SB XXXVI. Sack and strip of Jake Delhomme in SB XXXVIII(also had a TD reception). Also had a sack and a TD reception in Sb XXXIX. Is always coming up big in big games, has great football smarts.

Now, Shawne Merriman is a great physical player who can rush the passer and raise havoc along the line of scrimmage, he's an elite player in this league. But Mike Vrabel is the more versatile player, the smarter player, and as proven on the field, the better clutch, big game player.

So Shawn Merriman will have 17 sacks a season, but in what was the biggest playoff showdown of the weekend, Shawne Merriman had 2 tackles and a sack, while Mike Vrabel had 6 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

So if you want to say that San Diego has better athletes, so be it. But i'll debate every position as far as being a better football player.

And remember, the coaching staff is part of a team, but I don't think you're gonna want to go there.

There's obviously no way either you or I are going to back down from our beliefs.  You're a Pats homer and I'm a Pats hater.  We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Yeah, it does suck watching your team lose a game like that.

However, that doesn't change the fact that there is no more evidence to back up your position, than there is to back up the exact opposite position.

Who said "fact"? I simply stated my opinion.  Like it or not, "Rivers" won't be a name in the hall of fame, but it might be something Marty will float down soon...

Do you even read the posts before you reply? The "fact" is in regard to the evidence used supporting your opinion. I try to go slow for you. Please try to keep up.

They should have kept Drew. Fools.

That's my opinion. 1 year wonder.

Facts=evidence.

Don't play dumb.  I met you, you're smarter than your gel-spiked hair made you appear. ;)   Peace Brother. Join me in a sideline seat as we don't watch our respective teams climb the hill top.
