Thx MrDick, I checked and it was set on Energy Star, whatever that is.  I switched it to Home/office Desktop.  I'm gonna download the applet just in case.

Aww Serenity, didn't ya learn from ol' Rainja not to buy this piece o' crap?  I must admit, it is nice to know someone w/ the same pc is having the same troubles.  By that I mean at least I know it's not my specific pc.  I wonder what about the AMD 64X2 5000+ is not compatible with AH.  What is different about it from other AMD dual cores? Hmm.  I hate this thing!

Let me know if turning it off helps.  I know it did in my config (AMD X2 4600).

Also note that this only started to occur in XP, windows 2k was not affected.  I suspect though that there are Win32 API differences between XP and Win2k that make the timer issue stand-out.

BTW, you have a decent processor, the issue is an incompatibility between the OS and the game with pcs using dual core processors.

Up until I bought this, I had NO computer, so I couldnt read the forums to know :(

And yeah, its great, as far as being lightyears ahead of what I used to play on, but the warping just makes fighting impossible :(

The thing that different is it 64 bit you should have known that 64 bit has ALOT of compatibility issues with 32 bit programs...
If your willing, partition your hard drive and install a 32 bit version of windows and try AH in a 32 bit enviornment instead of 64 bit...

Strange, I am running XP Pro 64bit with dual processors with a Quadro video card (good, but not for gaming) and have no warping issues and get 40+ FPS even in the worst furball.

Same OS and AMD dual core  here Scca, but with a 8800GTX and no problems.  My warping and lurching problems were with vista on the same machine setup with a dual boot.  I suspected a driver.  Now when I want to play AH, I just boot XP x64...that's the only thing installed.

But also there are (or were) problems with AH and dualcores, so a 64bit dualcore maybe presenting a new problem that have not been found, also AMD and intel may use different technology now that is causing problems...
who knows?

Dualcore vs. dual processors..  Maybe that's the difference.

I am running twin Intel Xeon processors in a Dell 670 work station.

I had the AMD dual core drivers, and the dual core optmizer installed before I found AH. After installing AH I had the spinning clipboard, lockup/crash prob.

I installed the windows KB896256 XP patch, didn't fix it. Even running in every different compatibility mode, nothing worked.
I uninstalled the xp patch  [careful if you uninstall KB896256. it also uninstalls over half of your drivers for everything sound, usb ports, video and more. at least it did for me] and the dual core optimizer.
I then ran AH in '95 comp. mode and it works great except for the warpiness once in a while not very often though. But with everybody else having it too I'm hoping that will get better on it's own.

{sorry I meant to post this in other thread}

If the OS is 32bit (aka XP Pro / XP Home) the processor operates as a 32bit processor.  There is no compatibility issue at a CPU word level.

The compatibility issue is around OS timers for dual core processors.

from KB896256

This hotfix also addresses the following issues on computers that have multiple processors that support processor performance states:
•   A possible decrease in performance on single-threaded workloads when processor performance states are using demand-based switching.
•   The synchronization of the processor Time Stamp Counter (TSC) registers across processors when you use the ACPI Power Management timer on multiprocessor systems.
•   ACPI C-state promotion and demotion issues in the kernel power manager.

You keep saying 64 bit processor....

You do understand that the statement 64bit processor *only* applies if the OS is 64bit?

All AMD64 processors have the same architecture single or dual core.  Dual core processors are two cores on the same silicon joined by a hypertransport bridge.

but all AMD64 processors are 32/64 bit parts: 32bit operation on a 32bit OS, 64 bit operation on a 64bit OS.

I have seen this before too, circa early 2.09.

I do not remember how it was corrected though.  Try turning off hardware T&L in the video options.

I have a 7800GTX video card and I am using the 93.71 drivers. YMMV.

The only issue I have now is the occasional spinning clipboard.

Also the latest patch introduced a new bug where when I click vox the game locks up.
