Record Setting Cold in California

Wow....in an El Nino year too.

Potential damage to citrus crops is estimated to be as great as one billion dollars.

Haven't been paying much attention to the national weather reports lately.  Is this the result of the massive winter storm that appears likely to cross the entire nation?

Massive rainfall and flooding in our region has claimed 21 lives so far.  All our creeks are full to overflowing.

What's going on out West?  Appears to be one of the worst winters in years, what with massive snowfall in the Rockies.

It's not massive by itself, but we've been getting an inch or more of snow every week since the Wednesday before Christmas when it really dumped on us.  Those folks in the mid west have it really bad with the ice storms though.  This was supposed to be one of the hottest years yet, too.

It's the beginning of a damned ice age I tell ya!

But it has been in high 60s and low 70s around Washington, D.C.  It's all those Democrats huffing and puffing trying to blow the White House down.

It was 28 this morning. Sunday morning I was called into work because a water line FROZE... that isn't supposed to happen here. It freakin snowed on Friday. This must be the end times.

BTW the pics they show of oranges covered in ice are done on purpose. They spray water on the trees in an attempt to sheet the fruit with ice and keep the temp at 32 or above.

if you can't count on the weather being rock solid then what can you count on?

Maybe we need to get some "scientists" to look into this crisis.  Pass some new laws.

Now it's supposed to get into the 40s to 20s rest of the week in Northern Virginia.  You guys just have to keep talking about cold weather until it finally comes here, huh?  Thanks a lot.

But no precipitation expected.

New record low was set in Tucson Sunday night. It got down to 20 degrees officially. That means in the lower areas it was quite a bit cooler into the bottom teens.
