Ok, I will consider the tilde. It is a nice wiggly thingy that makes words work in other languages. Primarily latin based languages. I use it a lot in Portuguese. Example of it's use:

Coração ( extra points here, used the C cidilha too )
São
Padrão
Pão
Mão
Orientação

Though I have used it over the A it can also be used over the O such as in

Corações.

Now my understanding is that in Spanish it is only used over the N. Is this true?

They speak Portuguse in Brasil, not Spanish. That was actually the first language I spoke when I first started speaking back in '48 or so.
